“I didn’t think you’d remember it” rather than “I’m sorry I hurt you.” The illusion of an apology, but not a real one. I’m honestly pretty dubious about whether SA is ever forgivable, but if it is, it’s definitely not deserved right now. I’m glad you’re telling this story on your own terms instead of watering it down to be more “consumable.” I’m sensitive about this topic but knowing your storytelling abilities, I’m confident it will be done well. I’ve always been so taken by the visual weight of your stories, not just telling them with words and dialogue. Your characters feel very natural and believable. I also like the looseness and expression in this style, plus the muted colors and how it ALL feels a bit like a memory. (Radiohead reference even—is this taking place in the 80s-90s?) Really looking forward to this.
