5 Things I Learned the Hard Way About Guitar!

Hello friends,

welcome back to Swiftlessons for another guitar talk session. Over the years I have learned a lot of lessons about how to become a better guitarist and musician, and many of these lessons did not come easy. So, in todays session I've set out to put aspiring guitar players on the right track by outlining 5 valuable things I've learned the hard way. Let's get started!

Hey Terry, sorry to hear you're experiencing an issue. I'm happy to help you trouble shoot. I'm sending you a private message now.

Hi Rob joined your lessons page everything was fine until the 2nd payment was made. I was locked out of everthing I purchased the 15.00 program. I sent in a couple questions about it but no response. The current payment did not go through I need to change some information but if I dont get any response Ill call it quits. Liked your lessons the first couple weeks but this last month sucked. Thank You

Thanks, Rob. As a beginner to intermediate guitar player, how should I structure my practice to get optimum use of my time? Doug

Hello Rob, thanks for your tips. There are very important! Could you please create a lesson for something like the beautiful piece you are playing in this lesson? Thanks a lot

Rob, your lessons are great -- to the point, helpful, and thoughtfully constructed. Song request if I may? -- Neil Young's "Needle and the Damage Done." Thanks.

Hey Kevin, this might be what you're looking for; https://www.patreon.com/posts/fingerstyle-and-4137452

I’ve read somewhere that there’s a finger style course on this site, but I can’t find it. Can anyone enlighten me?

how can I locate a single lesson. Also, Ii would like to suggest The Rolling's Dead Flowers as s season request . Cool Country Vibe!

Awesome, I just ordered myself a new copy, I lost mine years ago. I’m going to put together a new tutorial on practice strategy and skill acquisition, I’ll let you know if I discover any other resources during my research.

Thank you Rob. I ordered the book.

Hey Steve, there are loads of resources on this subject, but one book that I really enjoyed was This Is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human Obsession. It covers a lot of ground, but discusses how "practice, rather than talent, is the driving force behind musical expertise." It's an all around fascinating read.

Can you please offer more thoughts on how skill acquisition works. Is there a particular book or other learning resource that you might recommend?

Hi Rob, your five tips are so appreciated
