"I'll Be Home For Christmas" Bing Crosby Guitar Lesson

Hello friends,

Welcome back to Swiftlessons for another holiday song tutorial. In today's session I've broken down how to play an arrangement of Bing Crosby's "I'll Be Home For Christmas" for guitar and vocals. In this lesson you will learn melodic chord melody phrases, and how to use hybrid picking to arpeggiate jazz chord shapes. Let's get started!

so how you doing ?

I am 64 and started playing when I was 62. Nothing before that...I absolutely love your instruction. It helps me out a great deal. I now practice 2 hours a day religiously. Thanks.

Hey John, using the thumb on the G6 chord is definitely optional, do what works best for you. In regards to how I would classify this lesson, I'm always careful to say something is beginner or intermediate etc, because those are subjective terms and students constantly surprise me. It's certainly not an arrangement for someone who is new to guitar, but if you have your open chords and basic barre chords down, then this is a great song for those seeking something more technical. One of the more difficult arrangements I've done is "Remember Me," and many beginner-intermediate students have been able to learn that, it just required a lot of grit and tenacity.

Do you see any problem modifying the fingering for G6? It's hard to wrap my thumb around the low e-string. For me it works to put my middle finger on the G string and the use 2, 3, and 4 for the rest of the measure. I didn't think you'd have a problem, but thought I'd ask for your opinion. Thanks. Also, do you see this as a beginner or intermediate lesson?

Comment from the Jungle of North Sumatra.."".Will be here for Christmas".... As a request... I'd like to learn a blusy version of Aaron Neville's "Please come Home for Christmas"
