The Beatles "Norwegian Wood" - Complete Guitar Lesson

Hello friends,

and welcome to another by request song tutorial. In today's session I'll be taking our picking to the next level with a full break down of The Beatles' 1965 classic "Norwegian Wood." I'll take you through the main guitar part for the verse and chorus sections, and the chord progression and strumming options for the chorus. Let's get started!

Hi Rob - that Dm. How about a Dm9 on the 6th fret open high E string?

I can’t seem to catch it on the video but when transitioning from the chorus back to the verse, do you strum the D chord or do you immediately go into the hammer on the G string ? I love your tutorials man and appreciate your work. It’s a pretty magical feeling when you are able to play through something as classic as this tune is.

Thanks Rob! Brilliant writing and arranging by the Fab Four and brilliant lesson by you!

Thanks for the lesson. For me being a Patron to your site is worth the price for the Beatles/Lennon/McCartney/Harrison lessons alone. Please continue to post any lessons by them. I have returned to being a Patron after a short hiatus.

Rob, too cool! This is one of my favorite all time albums and songs. Thanks for breaking this one down.

Thanks so much Michael! The site will continue to improve, and I'll keep adding content regularly. Keep me posted on your progress! -Rob

Yeah I am enjoying this site. I've already upgraded my subscription.

I can confirm this isn't a waste of time or money. You're talking about a $dollar a month. It's worth that to have sheet music that follow the exact lesson on the screen. That's the problem with books - they are often overly complex and accurate meaning on a song that has more than one guitar in the mix this guy has to isolate melody and chords that work OK. This page works fine on Safari as well as Chrome.

Hey Richie, I’m sorry you’re having trouble using the service, but I assure you that this is not a waste of time or money. Every post is complete with resources. Most tabs are linked at the bottom of the post via attachments. In some of my post, you’ll find tabs within the post details. If you have problems downloading attachments, then I would recommend using a desktop computer equipped with the google chrome browser. If you have any problems, I will personally help you through it.

I'm really dissapointed, can't even get tabs here. Glad I didn't subscribe for more. Waste of time and 💰

This is great. Thanks for the effort you put into the PDF. I like that after a tricky first "riff" we're rewarded with some nice and easy chords!

Hey Ian, it's definitely one of those great Beatles songs that get swept under the rug. I think it's one of John's best guitar parts... it's extremely recognizable and fun to pick on. Have fun! -Rob

Rob, I am unable to download your lessons for quite sometime.

I had forgotten how good this song was, and the intro especially. Thankyou Rob.
