Easy Country Lead Guitar Lesson - Six Hot Telecaster Licks

Hello friends,

and welcome to another lead guitar tutorial. In today's session I'll be showing you three leads that can be used to play over a 5.4.1 turnaround progression in the key of Dmaj. We'll begin by learning the essential scales and chord positions that were considered when creating these licks.

Let's get started!

Hi Rob, are you in 12/8 time in this piece? It’s a great lesson, the YouTube video brought me here to you on Patreon. Love the building blocks that you walkthrough... chord profession, chord shapes, scale... all that context is super helpful.

Hi Rob - I have just become a Patron on the back of this lesson, it is truly awesome. I have been learning guitar of just over a year and focusing on my acoustic guitar with open chords and simple songs. I have just bought a Custom Shop Telecaster and a Solid State Amp and I am having a great time learning these licks. I don't know if you reply to these posts but if you do... I would really like to know how you get your sound on this lesson it is fantastic. Thank you.

Oh boy, this is very cool, but reminds me of a weakness. I know the major and minor chord shapes in the first position but not how the shapes translate up the neck. You show 3 important ones here and I suspect what I don't know has to do with CAGED. I've got your pdf on that but still don't really understand how it works. Any suggestions as I think this is an important next hurdle for me? Many thanks.
