Blues Guitar Licks and Chords Lesson - 1 to 4 Transition Lick in C

Hello friends,

Welcome to another lead guitar lesson. In this 3 part session, we'll be learning useful jazz/blues chord shapes, the D position of the C blues scale, and a 1 to 4 double-stop transition lick. Let's get started!

Note: An extended cut featuring two bonus licks and scales (for premium patrons) is on the way!

thanks for the reply! I've been trying to transcribe the lick at 4:32 myself and I'm stuck half way through, right after the first 'mini lick, kind of lost after you start getting into the double stops. Do you have tab for it? Thanks!

I made sure to count the lick out, it starts on beat two, this is also shown in the tab that you can print out. My more recent videos feature guitar pro tabs, allowing you to see rhythmic details more clearly. Thanks so much for joining!

when do you play the lick as well, the video doesn't mention, on what measure of the bar?

Hey, I’m calling this position of the scale D position because I’m using CAGED concept. Basically the scale position overlaps with the root chord played as a D shape. CAGED is useful because it promotes seeing the relationship between scale patterns and the five positions of a given major or minor chord harmony.

Rob, I just wanted to check that you seen my last posted comment.

Rob, your solo blues routines (up to 7) are really v. good. I was just wondering if you were going to pull all of these, together with any other classic blues plays, together into a single coherent song - one that sort of really encapsulates that style of blues so well. Would be much appreciated

Yes, Bret, I'll have that up tomorrow evening. And a new acoustic lick of the week as well. Playing catch up since I had to leave town last week. Thanks!

will this also be updated? I upgraded my membership to see the extended cuts for premium patrons. thanks.

Hey Ron, sorry for the delay. I'm on a family vacation. I'm flying home tonight and will have a new video up tomorrow. Expect a flood of cool lessons this week!

Hi Rob, what is the situation at the moment? We don't see no further lessons coming through!

Ron Meijer

Hi Rob 8m serious got kinks out of my life brought me an acoustic guitar and a electric

Oh, gotcha. So for every lead guitar lesson I teach I offer an extended cut for premium patrons ($10-$15 supporters.) These videos feature two extra licks, the tabs in screen, and an extra long backing track at the end. Here and there I will be offering these extended cut videos as weekend specials for folks who can't swing the $10 donation.

I think he means in the intro you use 3 other tasty licks in C that are not in the lesson and I love the 2nd and 3rd one...

Not sure if I understand the question, but this is a single video with three sections: 1) chords 2) scales 3) lick of the week. Thanks Jonathan!

where is part 1 & 2

It definitely works on safari, but I'm not confident that it works using the app. I'm going to reach out to patreon and ask why. Thanks Gery!

Can I get the tab while using an iPad? Clicking on the tab button doesn't seem to work on an iPad. Thanks!
