Neil Young "Heart of Gold" Guitar Lesson - NEW CHORD SHEET AND TAB

Hello friends,

Today I'm taking a break from shooting to work on TABS for  my old lessons. As requested, I've completed a PDF for my tutorial on Neil Young's 1972 classic "Heart of Gold." Thanks so much for your patience as I work toward bringing you new content and resources for your old favorites. I'll be back with a new mini lesson this weekend, as I celebrate receiving my 100,000th subscriber! It took me four years to reach this point, but now with you support, the channel is really breaking new ground. I hope you all are enjoying your practice and reaching your goals. Thanks again for all you do and be well. -Rob

Neil Young "Heart of Gold" Guitar Lesson - NEW CHORD SHEET AND TAB

Hi Rob. Great song and lesson. Question: in the video it appears the counting on the riff is 1&2&3&4& - but when I read the tab it seems to be missing the & of the 4. Am I missing or misreading something? Thank you.

Hi Rob I’d also like the strumming pattern on the chord sheet if at all possible

Hi Rob, I’m playing now one year and learned this song. What would helped me a lot is when you write the strumming pattern on the chord sheet. After a time I can’t remember how it was.

Hey Jeff, I'm still strumming that. Try switching the G note to an F# for last couple strums of that G chord. You'll have to play around with it to get the timing. Also note that there are many variations to that trick, I don't do it the same way every time.

Hi Rob - i'm still working this song. I notice there a a bit of a walk down on the switch G to Em. Trying to get this down because it adds a nice touch. Are you hitting the low E string or just strumming?

Hey Jeff, thanks so much for your support! Basically I'm slapping the strings in way that forces them to clap against the wired frets, this requires ample force. The other detail is that I'm using the palm of my hand, but also the finger nails and some of my pick to slap the strings, which adds to the percussive sound. I hope this explanation helps. Be well and have an excellent week of progress!

Hi Rob can you explain what you are doing with right hand to get the slap sound? thanks!
