Sounds like he's better suited to be a maester than a king

2023-11-11 08:05:09 +0000 UTCLol been waiting for the reaction to Bran the Broken being crowned the king. Imagine waiting for months just for the writers to insult you with this crap. Unbelievable

2023-11-11 08:00:27 +0000 UTCAt 4 years after finale I rewatched the whole series to see if season 8 was that bad. I thought maybe that years later it’d feel less like a betrayal. It did not. If anything, time gave me perspective on how bad it was.

2023-10-16 09:51:31 +0000 UTCI didn't say that's what makes you the best person for the job, Joffrey definitely wasn't, I'm saying it's a trait a king needs to have to keep people satisfied. Tommen was a decent person (very naive and soft, yes) but people still didn't like him and easily turned against him because he had no interaction with them . They only started liking him when he joined up with the High Sparrow, who is an example of what I'm saying. He was a barefoot homeless man that checkmated greatest houses of Westeros because he knew how to motivate the common people to follow him.

2023-10-13 17:09:56 +0000 UTCJust because people like you doesn't mean that you are the best person for the job. Even if Bran was named Master of whisperers or laws doesn't mean that the king would listen to him.

2023-10-11 18:42:32 +0000 UTCIn post-war time, especially after the carnage that happened in Westeros, the right ruler needs to inspire people and connect with them by showing emotions called empathy and concern. An autistic teen in a wheelchair that only speaks occasionally to say something creepy will hardly inspire devotion from the people. If this dumb situation was any realistic, like this show has been since the start when it comes to politics, firstly no one would even vote for him cause more than half of the people on that counsel don't know anything about him other than that he's crippled Ned Stark's son that claims he has "visions". Second, he has no public presence or "exposé" that would make the people of Westeros like him. Like Olenna Tyrell said "The people are hungry for more than just food. They crave distractions. And if we don't provide them, they'll create their own. And their distractions are likely to end with us being torn to pieces." That's why people like Margaery, Daenerys, Jon, Stannis etc. had a great following of people, they all had different ways, but similar tactics into motivating people to like them. Bran could've been a perfect Master of Whisperers, Master of Law, but a King needs to be a public figure that knows how to communicate with his people. Even Joffrey had people like him cause a) he sucked up to people with his speeches about how great he is b) he gave them public executions and punishments of all these "traitors". These are medieval times where the common people have no education and not much to do besides working.

2023-10-11 18:06:59 +0000 UTCHow is Bran not the correct choice? He literally knows EVERYTHING. All of history. He has no feelings to cloud his judgement. He was the correct choice no matter how much you hate it.

2023-10-11 14:20:37 +0000 UTCAnd in the books he has a twin sister. I wish they would have had that in the show. And it’s not Sansa that marries Ramsey. I never liked the huge amount of differences. It changed so much of the story.

2023-10-11 11:34:09 +0000 UTCDid you watch the commentary that came out with the final season 8 DVD? Emilia Clarke and the writers discuss where Drogon took Dani, why the throne was burned and what Jon’s motivations were in the throne room. They discuss the fact that Drogon took Dani to Volantis. There are unconfirmed rumors that she could be resurrected in the Snow sequel but that is not from the writers. For anyone interested, YouTube and Max has an Inside the episode show that explains details like these. And another show that has the actors explaining why they played a certain screen a certain way and how the special effects are done. Then as the DVD and DVD box sets were released special interviews and commentary were added to them for people to buy them. There is a lot more information about the show from the writers and actors own mouth because they knew people were confused. Then there are a huge amount of interviews the cast and writers did after the show explaining all of these things in detail. Due to all the flyers being posted everywhere with the HBO logo and different pictures I assumed the Snow sequel was New Years Day as the flyers stated. They were released at the same time as the HOTD flyers for season 2 announcing its June 2024 release. They just finished filming it and announced the summer release. I will assume then someone released the Snow ones at the same time as a spoof.

2023-10-11 07:12:35 +0000 UTCHoly crap what an epic reaction (almost madness)! Loved the show, but the ending has spoiled my desire to rewatch it for quite a forseeable future. I was wondering if The Squad would react to some of the comedy bits some of the crew made with their characters, like: The Game of Thrones Musical (made for Red Nose Day with Coldplay). And secondarily a couple that Seth Meyers did with "Jon Snow" and "Melisandre".

2023-10-10 20:39:29 +0000 UTCCongrats on making it to the end of this amazing show. Even with the ho -hum ending (Daenerys fan here), it is still an amazing show, definitely my favorite of all time, and arguably the best show of all time. So glad you (overall) loved it, and really looking forward to your House of the Dragon reactions. Its already an amazing show and really "scratches the itch" as you said about getting more Westeros content.

2023-10-10 20:20:51 +0000 UTCthe one thing I will forever be bitter about, is 1 the treatment of Daenerys character and how they butchered her and 2 how the magic in this show was a total let down, considering dan and Dave didn't really like the fantasy element, seasons 1-5 are definitely my top seasons, can't believe got reactions are finally over, these reaction are what made me subscribe! so excited for house of the dragon and future shows, I recommend the last of us after hotd!! also the dany scene with drogons wings at the end was the best thing out of the season, the overall ending was really disappointing to me, the earlier seasons were so good only for the end to be that, also "asoiaf" is Daenerys and her dragons and "the things north of the wall" which are white walkers, as said by grrm himself

2023-10-10 20:01:40 +0000 UTCOk I have to disappoint you, but that's fake news about Jon Snow's spin off. The spin off doesn't even have a script yet or a green light from HBO, it's only an idea for now. So we may never see it actually, or if we do, it's gonna be several years from now for sure. It's also not true the writers confirmed the dragon took Dany to Volantis, it's just a fan theory.

2023-10-10 18:15:21 +0000 UTCLmaooo the most relatable reactions ever, I felt exactly like Trin. Literally I sat in silence for like 5 mins, trying to process what the f just happened, then I started crying out of anger and disbelief. I started watching this show sophomore year of high school and it ended right after I graduated from college, so it was a big part of my life for a long time. Anyway, both HBO and George RR Martin wanted the show to have 10 seasons, but these dumbasses David and Dan wanted to end it as quickly as possible so they can go work on the new Star Wars. Happy to say the backlash and anger from the fans got them fired from doing Star Wars lol Agree with everything you say, but I was honestly disappointed about Jon's ending the most. If he stayed a bastard and we never got the reveal and everything, I would be happy with this ending. But literally the biggest reveal and plot twist of the show was the fact he's secretly a Targaryen prince and heir to the throne, and his parents are the reason for the whole war and extinction of the most powerful dynasty ever. AND THEY DID NOTHING WITH IT. Like that's a huge deal, when they revealed that in season 6 finale, I thought SHIT IS GONNA GO DOOOWWNNN because of that, and somehow they made it a lesser subplot lol The only reason George let them do the show is because they guessed correctly who is Jon's mother, so it's obvious George thought it was very important. But I guess even he couldn't know these 2 guys are this stupid. Not to mention they changed show Jon from books Jon even more in later seasons to the point it's a different character basically. Books Jon is an ambitious smartass and a total badass, he actually got killed in the books cause he wanted to join Stannis and take Winterfell (in the show he refuses). I feel he would definitely want the throne if he found out he's the heir. I really hoped Jon would be king or at least a lord of Dragonstone and continue the Targaryen dynasty.

2023-10-10 18:10:29 +0000 UTCJohn Snow sequel releases on New Years Day 2024. House of the dragon Season 2 releases June 2024. There has been talk of an Arya spin off as the Sea Wolf but nothing concrete. A new series involving Dunk the Tall from a book GRRM wrote is starting production. It’s occurs between HOTD and GOT on the timeline of history. HOTD is 172 years before GOT. And now they are in discussion for a spin-off with the original Aegon the Conquer. The writers in interviews after the show said that Drogon took Danerys to Volantis. Which is where the red priest and priestess are from, rumors of how Melisandre brought back Jon possibly they could do the same for Dani The scene of Tormund and Jon leaving the Wall are the exact mirror image of the first scene of the show. When you guys were wondering why the last scene took so long it was because they had told the crew to invite their families to be on the show. All the people walking out behind Jon leaving were family members of the crew. So their spouses and children got to be in the last episode as a thank you to them. And of course symbolically it focused on the children so you would realize there is a whole generation starting beyond the wall. They showed a green plant in the snow you missed when they were walking out. About Bran I guess you guys missed that he is supposed to be expressionless. He is not Brandon Stark as he said many times. The conversation where Mera is crying about him having no emotion when she is leaving explains this! He says I don’t feel anymore. I’m not Brandon Stark. She says you died in that cave. Meaning he no longer has human emotions. He is the worlds memory. It’s like if you took a normal person wiped their personality and download the history of the entire world into their mind. He is a living hard drive at maximum capacity. There is no room for emotion. So by saying he was a bad actor because he couldn’t show emotion is actually you guys missing the ENTIRE point of him losing who he was to become an encyclopedia of events. I don’t even like the character but it was a big point that was missed. It’s also why he will be a good king. He has no emotional entanglements to make him weak, no vices that eat away at him, and no love for anyone that can make him determine a bad decision for the kingdom. Look at Robert and the Mad King they will never live with that as Bran being king. Sansa won the game of thrones by becoming queen. If she had fought for Jon’s release then she would have never been queen. By having him banished she is Queen. She played it with Bran by demanding independence and she played it with Jon so no one would take her position. That’s why it was so easily agreed to send him to the nights watch. Most people don’t catch any of these things the first time you watch the show. So please dont take it as criticism. It’s only after rewatch does it really stand out. You will enjoy House of the Dragon. It’s different writers. Miguel Spanochk who directed some of the best episodes in GOT is doing the majority of HOTD. It still takes place in Westeros so you come back to the same environments and edge of your seat thrilling moments. But it is a different tone than season 8 that makes it very enjoyable. What is the best thing is that all the books are already written. It’s 4 seasons of a story that is completely GRRM.

2023-10-10 16:57:42 +0000 UTCSorry, long comment. Season 6 and 7 were carried by payoffs. A lot of closures for many storylines were delivered in season 6 which made it amazing for most first time watchers, and a lot of payoff made season 7 amazing. These were set up DECADES ago by George R.R. Martin, not the show writers. In the late seasons the biggest character, Jon, was reduced to 3 lines: "we need allies", "i don't want it" and "you are my queen". This made him so boring for people who rewatch the show and notice this. The thing with Ned is that he was pretty honorable but never boring. They turned Jon into a cheesy boring person just to show his "honour". And they never used the biggest reveal of this show (his true identity). Tyrion turned into a dumb fuck with Cersei outthinking him on every turn, then suggesting that the crypt was "the safest place to hide" in a war with freakin dead people who could revive corpses. Cersei, on the other hand, was doing NOTHING other than standing over that fucking window and drinking wine. They thought if they buy her sell swords from Bravos and build her weapons against dragons off screen it would be enough, and they could just keep her by the window watching the clouds. Littlefinger who is practically the biggest player in GOT was only wandering the corridors of Winterfell, living in the shadow of Sansa and never realizing that Bran told him "chaos is a ladder" which means that basically his past treason to Ned, his current plays and his intentions are all exposed. This is littlefinger dude, he would never ignore such an important threat. Varys, whose most popular line is "i'm a good actor my lord, but i'm no hero" (said it to Ned in season 1) was now this big honourable fool who willingly got himself killed and for no good reason (no one actually benefitted from his dumb suicide mission). He was basically the god of shadows and whispers, and he ended up parading his treasonous thoughts telling everyone he's ready to betray Daenerys instead of actually having a good plan. All these big players were the core of GOT, not because they were huge fighters nor for their looks. They were actually written in a genius way. The show writers then relied on our love for these characters and thought they could do anything and we would still love it, no matter how much it doesn't make sense. And let's not forget that the biggest threat of all, the dark enemy that was introduced in the very first scene of the very first episode of GOT was defeated in 1 night and in 1 castle. This was so stupid building white walkers up for 8 seasons and 8 years and ending it this way. Not to mention Daenerys's dumb flip for no reason and in such a short time. First she was struggling with 2-3 weapons against her dragon, then she destroyed all of them in 2 minutes. Why didn't she do that from the beginning. Then she killed people for no reason. They could at least have the decency to show the people of Kings Landing as an actual obstacle between her and the throne so it could make more sense for her to murder them all FOR A REASON. Not casually cleansing the city street by street for the fun of it AND AFTER SHE'S WON. Greyworm was ready to kill everyone but magically spared the life of Jon and magically decided that Tyrion is allowed to give his opinion. I guess a former slave who gone mad respects liberty of speech. Anyway, It's never been about hating on the show just because "it's a trend to do so". I could understand someone for saying that it was good up until S8E3 when they are on their first watch and are attached to those characters and excited to know what's next, but when you rewatch several times, most people start to find these seasons cheesy and lose interest for the most part, and all that's left is the big power plays and political games that appear in the early seasons.
