Hello Patreonites. This is the One in the Middle. I have been finishing my grad degree since we’ve been doing this little endeavor and finally finish this week. I look forward to engaging with you all a little more as long as you can put up with my strong will and loud mouth. 😁 - W

Oh, ABSOLUTELY. Pretty satisfying, in an unethical way, of course. 🤣 -Bliss

Hi Gary!! -all three of us :)

What a fantastic analysis. It reminds me of a well-intentioned, but abusive parent. The desire might not always be to harm the weaker person, but it’s a whole other level of sick when the person in power wields attachment like that. The love is real, but that almost twists the manipulation knife so to speak. Oof! Thank you for your detailed thoughts! -Bliss

I’ve never heard of that term, but it makes sense. It’s so much more than just an “anti-hero,” you know? Thanks for the fact! ☺️ -Bliss

That’s true. We throw around the phrase “you’re dumb” and stuff like that when you’re frustrated🤣, but you’re totally right that he has to be quite clever to have maneuvered this far. -Bliss

The most dramatic moment 🤣

You can add this to the list of Walter White's/Heisenberg's badass moments

Hello Pretty Lady

Gary

I'm in the camp that thinks Walt has at least some genuine feelings for Jesse, but you're not wrong for thinking he has ulterior (and selfish) motives, too. The reason Walt is a "good character" is because none of the interpretations of him are mutually exclusive. In fact, I think most people's interpretations are mostly true. I personally don't think the selfish angle explains quite everything, though... although the idea that he felt emasculated by Gus' show of dominance in this episode is an interesting one. I tend to think that Walt considers Jesse to be the son he never had, and I think it's because his biological son has neither the will nor the ability to share a lab with him. Walt can't pass on any of his knowledge or juggle beakers with Jr.. And Junior has enough going on in his life that he mostly struggles to live a life of normalcy, and doesn't have the time or interest to pursue chemistry as an academic passion. But Walt can mold Jesse, and pass on his insights. His motivation to look after Jesse is selfish, but I think his attachment to him is both misguided and legitimately real. His feelings are genuine, even if they're for the wrong reasons. Like when he talked to Jane's father in the bar, he referred to Jesse as family. And in the last episode ("Fly"), when speaking about Donald's advice to "not give up on family", Walt says, "I took his advice" -- meaning that he believes he went back to see Jesse after the bar because he was looking after family. Just my take, though.

The monologues in this show are so great. The group rehab guy's story about his daughter, Mike's story about his half measure... Even amid all the other great writing, they pick some fantastic stories to tell us more about the characters. Looks like you're all getting into it! It's not just Bliss who's excited for the next episode, haha.

This series is described as "Film Noire". Where there arent good guys and bad guys. But rather bad guys and worse guys.

Follow the behavior of Walt towards Jesse. No one is arguing that Walt has an honorable love for him, but every instance he confronted Jesse, Walt showed clearly that he didnt want Jesse to act irrationally. Both for Jesse's and Walt's sake. That sequence where hes calling Jesse in the bathroom and wondering why he cant reach him, he puts it together once he hears the news story "Jesse is gonna kill those men". Walt was clever enough to calculate he'd be on that corner confronting those men.

Nice,now we talking,those thumbnails are looking promising.😅👍🙌🤝
