“Are you gonna be good for me?” It’s a legitimate question, she asked quietly but her eyebrow was raised and her voice was stern.

“I don’t know,” I replied, also legitimate.

“Well who should I ask?” she says, unfazed, without changing her tone. It’s a stand off until…

(the thing is I wasn’t sure when she first asked, maybe I could find it within me, maybe I could be good… but there was something about that tone, it dared me to do it, I swear it was a set up)

… I reached my little fingers up in between our faces, and I cocked my index finger against my thumb to make a perfect circle, and I flicked the very tip of her nose, hard.

And that was her answer.

Oh brat tamer. Oh wicked daddy. Calmer of beasts. Capturer of hearts. It’s the fire that lights up behind your eyes, glowing green. It’s the pink cheeks, hot, like a kid coming in from the snow. It’s the curl of your lip, sinister grin, but genuine god’s honest fun. The thrill on your face, the sadistic delight that flashes when you catch me, that moment of predation. Divine.
