For our 10th Sapphic Slumber Party (and 10th) midnight ritual together in the parlour) I brought back the sparkly pink sand we used for our very first midnight ritual together years ago. We used the sand to hold all of the candles we lit, one for each of us. (Which yeah, “bring fire extinguisher for midnight ceremony” is a real note I made to myself for the next event. If nothing else, I’m a student of the lady orgy.)

This time I added some sparkly pink stars to the sand since it’s our 10th celebration. Each guest approached and filled a small vial with the pink glittery sand, and had to ask another guest to help them seal their vial afterwards. Sisterhood through and through. Everyone also chose a card from Adam JK’s “It’s A Sign” deck. I love hearing people explain their cards meaning to me, and sharing a moment of reflection.

My card was auspicious. My whole summer has been about putting my focus on what’s next instead of all the big changes in the past few years. This was an excellent reminder.

As we wrapped up our ritual I remembered the moon was full, we all scurried out onto the front lawn in our lingerie and stocking feet, eyes wide in awe of the moon. Sighs of contentment drifting off our lips as we all huddled together, faces to the sky. It was one of my favourite moments of the whole night.
