You should know that this moment, me flogging O and dancing, was set to the bouncing sounds of Beyoncé’s Church Girl.
The Saturday night event always includes a very strategic hand-picked 8 hour long playlist soundtrack. It’s updated for every event and is my earnest attempt to combine the musical needs spanning two decades of half-naked women. The vibe is so important.
I wasn’t sure how to include Beyoncé’s recent masterpiece. It didn’t feel right chopping it up and adding songs individually throughout the night. I checked in with the coven Friday night, my hunch was correct, it was decided unanimously that Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE album should be played in it’s entirety during the party. But when? “You’ll know when the time is right.”
Now I’m a little anxious bunny who takes these responsibilities seriously and I fretted a bit… how will I know? What if it’s not right?
Friends, when the time came: I knew.
At 10:45pm I rushed by the main parlour en route to deal with a party demand when I had to stop and do a double-take, backtracking my steps and staring in awe at the scene.
Cath was on the sybian, her white dress trailing behind her, guests were fucking on the couch in the background, Beth, Betty and Peach worked the controls and held her wide-eyed gaze.
There was no mistaking the moment, it was time. I scurried to the mixing board and put RENAISSANCE on. “These motherfuckers ain’t stoppin me” came Bey’s voice over the speakers I watched Cath ride the sybian like a superstar (she’s that girl!) and thanked the gods and Beyoncé for making the perfect lady orgy album.
