I just got home from the sweetest valentine’s date with Max. I baked her a whole batch of chocolate cupcakes and she surprised me with this bracelet, a heart charm engraved with a lightning bolt. We walked from our hotel to the Andrea Gibson show, betting on how many of her tinder dates we’d see there. “Eh, can’t be worse than Pride,” she said with a smile. Andrea was brilliant, their words are always just the right thing. I’m trying to find the name of the first poem they performed, about the foolish hope of new love, and how maybe that’s when we see each other most clearly. And her arm was around me and her other hand was in mine while happy tears rolled down my cheeks and she said “I’ll love you forever.”
