Mid-february: about what's going on for me (long post, but all is good)

Hello everyone,

We're mid-february and I wanted to share with you what's going on!

So, first the bad news: I'm a bit late on my planning, I'll start the full time more likely during the beginning of March.

And then the good news: everything is going well, and at this point, I don't think anything could possibly stop me from being full time.

Since I'm making you wait, I wanted to share more with you about what's all this is about. So, here we go (it's a long read):

The most veteran of you may know that before FWG, I was the CEO of a small game studio (~5 people). It was a constantly failing studio that was mostly trying to survive at all time (which is the story of probably 99% of small game studios).

Anyway, near the end-life of the studio, I ended up in a weird situation where I was doing a lot of contractor works by myself (I'm a dev, and dev work is easier to sell), and the generated money was used to pay the salaries. It wasn't a really sustainable situation, but I cared for that studio.

Eventually, the studio crashed for real, and something unexpected happened: I still had contacts and contractor work, a lot of it actually. And now, I could actually pay myself, since I was not working to pay the salaries of my employees (working and being paid for it, I know, crazy, right?).

So I thought about it, I still had FWG as a part-time, and a fair income of money. I decided that it would be good for a time to keep me fincanially sound, but that what I really wanted to do is move full-time on FWG.

My main problem to make it happen was the long-term financial dependencies I had, and one most notably: my rent.

Basically, my wife and I are in our 30's, and if I want to go full time on FWG instead if following a more classic career, it has to be a responsible choice.

So I saved the extra money for over a year, and used that to buy a small home, with a small loan, a couple of months ago.

The loan is a huge improvement for me for two reasons:

- It's smaller than our previous rent

- It includes some saving everytime we pay up, while the rent was 100% lost money.

Plus we still have some money, so if anything bad happens (the computer suddenly explodes or something), we're still fine.

So now, as long as we can pay up our loan and buy some food, I can keep going. With Patreon, itch, and Steam together, we can do that.

And once Emily is out, we'll see, but maybe it will be time to scale up.

So, why am I late? Well it's pretty simple. I bought a home, but it's a small home that had problems, notably, important, long-term water leaks.

Since buying a home was already a large investment (for me), I need to do the repairs myself, with the help of a friend.

It includes, rebuilding walls, some floors, fixing the plumbing behind the walls, that kind of thing. We're now mostly done, but there are still a couple of walls that need to be refreshed.

After that, I'll have a healthy environment to work, and I'll be fully yours to provide much more content than ever before!

So, thank you all for your support, we're almost there :)

Stay safe,
FWG

Good luck. I hope at some point the incomes from the game will be enough to hire plumbers and everything else.
