It’s so much more humane to kill the target in Dishonored. Most of the people you spare in the Dishonored games suffer a fate worse than desth.

Its important to remember that we are watching this with knowledge that Mapo doesn't have. This is also an immersive sim game, which many people, including Mapo, don't have a lot of experience with. These games work in a way that requires you to think in a less linear way about things than 95% of games reinforce you to do. Things you would assume to be true in majority of games aren't always the case with immersive sim games. It takes time for a players brain to kind of "rewire" from what is the norm.
What makes immersive sim games so great is how many different pathways, options, solutions you have etc. The downside is you can easily miss some of these by doing things in a different order, or not going to a certain place, not obtaining a certain item, skill or power, or not talking to a certain person.
You can already see he has really adapted well as he learns new things and experiments. I know this is a very famous and beloved level so there may have been some high expectations to have him do certain things, but this is just how blind playthroughs go. There is a lot of benefit to them being blind, but there's obviously going to be some hiccups as a result. Its simply unavoidable even with the "super pro gamers".
I for one am greatly enjoying this journey, and I really look forward to seeing how Mapo continues to evolve his gameplay style as he gets more used to Dishonored and immersive sim games in general, as well as Dishonored 2 and the other title one day.
