I think the fact that P'Golf (the director) hired Sine Inthira to play Teacher Waree is a bit of deliciousness. P'Golf is an activist themself, obviously, but Sine Inthira was arrested in 2020 for violating Thailand's lese majeste laws (laws against defaming the monarchy) as a part of the pro-democracy protests in that year. Here's an interesting article about it: https://www.abc4.com/news/thai-actress-aiding-protests-charged-with-insulting-monarchy/
But isn't there a really pointed message here? A nonbinary Thai director makes a show that is veiled criticism of the Thai government, and hires P'SINE to play one of the people upholding the corrupt system.
(Interesting, P'Sine said in the article that being outspokenly in favor of the protests had lost her 70% of her work, which makes this somehow EVEN BETTER. Props to P'Golf, and props to GMMTV, it must be said.)

I am happy you decided to do a little research, since you felt underwhelmed by ep1 - becaus there is definitly more to the story than the immature high school drama plot.
And I wouldn't say that people like this show solely because of the FirstKhaotung pairing. Sure their chemistry is part of it, but when the story picks up that is when it becomes really interesting. People came for FirstKhaotung, but they stayed for the message!
I would interpret "the curse" as religion. Something supernatural beyond our logic that's being used to keep people down, to make them feel bad about themself and to keep them in line.

In my very childish brain, Singto left GMMTV & they were like… hmmmm, what shall we call this stray dog in The Eclipse?
