What I absolutely love in this ep is seeing again how much ShiDe loves ShuYi. Many miss that ShuYi when speaking veers in and out of speaking Mandarin & Japanese, especially when he's emotional with his father, which makes sense as they're Japanese originally. So it's AMAZING when he's sitting on ShiDe's lap and saying that he loves ShiDe because his love has always been for the person that he is and he's never had to be anyone other than himself ShuYi's again switching between the two languages and ShiDe is not missing a beat!! Which means he specifically learned Japanese for his man to in fact be himself!!! Who cares about plot when you have glorious nuggets like that!!

2025-05-11 14:56:43 +0000 UTCI usually don’t make predictions & I haven’t seen this before, but it seems to me there are clues about the cousin and Yu Zhen Xuan. I have a feeling that the doc/cousin fell in love with Xuan when he was taking care of him but he rejected his feelings because Xuan was not only too young, but also a student, also troubled and also in his care. It would have been a true violation for him to ‘take advantage” or neglect his position. But with those things all (hopefully) no longer relevant, he may realize he still has feelings and it’s ok to explore them now as two consenting adults without any asymmetrical power relationships.

They have already cried and suffered a lot and there’s still hurt there, but they’ve been separated for so long. But yeah, this hack situation better be the resolution to both the dad and the cousin arc!
