Version 0.4.8 Release

As mentioned in the previous post, the main things I've completed this month are adding strafing when holding throwable potions, the first iteration of a save system, and started working on the next creature.

I think the strafe walking when holding a potion is looking pretty decent, however the way it looks when crouching can be pretty clunky so I would like to revisit it at some point.

As for the save system, I underestimated how much work it would take so this is very much just a first iteration on it. Currently there is only a single save slot and it doesn't actually save everything that it should...this will be fixed for the next build however.

And finally I started work on the next creature. I wanted something bigger than the current guys so I decided to go with a mantis like insect. Here's how he's looking so far:

There's still a bit more modelling to be done but soon work will begin on the texturing.

As a small aside, one thing that happened this month is for some inexplicable reason my game project would no longer package the game and no specific errors were given so I was at a loss. Eventually I gave up on it and used a previous version of the project that I had manually archived and just redid some of the work I had already done. Fortunately I didn't have to redo too much but it was pretty frustrating and was a bit of a wake up call that I need to take version control more seriously.

I've also been thinking more on when to release a public demo and finalise the game's title and plot. I would like to do so in November however I'm going to be moving that month which may make things a bit tricky. Anyways that's something I'll still need to figure out but progress on the game will continue regardless.
