I'd love to see a game of Urban Shadows first edition! Some great urban fantasy powered by the apocalypse stuff. Vamps, werewolves, and ghosts in the city type stuff. Has a great corruption mechanic where if they give in to their supernatural or evil urges they progress down an evil skill tree until they lose their character to the GM who can then bring the character back as a threat! There's lots of additionally released playbooks, and someone can basically just play the Crow if they pick the Revenant. ;)

Amazing, I didn't know there were so many rulesets. Perfect podcast for me. as a person who knows next to nothing about them, just the vibes: paranoia: reminds me of "The Island" from 2005 :o fun one-shot for sure. guest game errr maybe? delta green: sounds long. maybe do a one-shot "episode zero" to establish shared lore before deciding to commit to a long campaign? forbidden lands: I'd love to see extra visual elements to show the map exploration on video ;) obscure & death in space: one-shots, invite guests who like horror? ronin: wild and silly reich & farewell to arms: I agree WW1 and WW2 are challenging to do tastefully. best to go over the top rather than not far enough troika: one-shot, with guests? I saw someone else do a dreamland episode recently ;) shadowdark: cool. moody, suspense? I like it. action movie world: invite guests definitely! with costumes! dragonbane: I loved the pre-made Village of The Day Before storyline but game mechanics were meh. Maybe pick more fun stories written for Dragonbane but play them with other rulesets? is that allowed? lol personal suggestion: steampunk scenario where magic and technology are at odds. (arcanum. it's arcanum but ttrpg).

In the vein of Into the Odd, it would be great to see a one shot of Electric Bastionland - it inherits the mechanics of Into the Odd but in a very interesting and weird urban setting!

My knowledge is not only as full as that Pepsi can but I am also lonely as it stands on the table so I will just enjoy watching whatever you awesome heroes make 🥹😂

Excellent collection! Excited to see what you dip into next! I'm a huge Blades in the Dark fan so always recommend that, but also its publisher Evil Hat are doing the playtest for Blades '68 (basically a time jump for BitD in a pseudo-1960s setting) which I would love to hear your take on!

Thom Chambers

I would LOVE to see Mystery Quest do Paranoia.

Love to hear about different systems to add to my list of ones to look up. Always a fan of any Call of Cthulhu and also recently picked up Delta Green. Paranoia would be a laugh to see played. To be fair I'd happily watch/listen to all of them. Would love to Suggest DIE The RPG as it quickly became one of my favourites with CoC and easily lends itself to short run.

First of all yes I would absolutely love to see paranoia. Also eat the r e i c h would probably be very entertaining as well. I swear at some point in the long distance pass I remember you bringing up a game with Ben called malifaux. Now that is a working so that would probably be better for the games night channel. But they do have a TT RPG spin-off called through the breach that I would heavily recommend that you do an episode on. They do offer a metric ton of pre-made scenarios with pre-made characters you can use along with them. I picked up through the breach when me and my wife went to Portland cuz I was proposing and we wanted to go to that really big bookstore they have over there. And it became one of my most favorite and most played rpgs. The combat can get a little bogda down when you get to dealing damage. But that's pretty easy to fix all you do is take the average. I personally think that through the breach offers enough of a wackiness to it that it would fit perfectly with the group but also lend itself nicely to some horror elements in either direction you want to take it

Personally I have wanted you to play a Imperium Maledictum scenario for a while now. Beyond that I really enjoyed you playing the Chariot of The Gods Alien RPG scenario, and I hope you play one of the other scenarios soon. The Discworld scenario you played was also pretty funny, and I am always up for more Terry Pratchett! And Cthulhu By Gaslight is a setting I have some interest in and I think it could be great fun to watch your troupe take on the social mores of the Victorian age. So that's my preferences I suppose. I've watched every episode so far so whatever you choose to do I am pretty much in! P.S: I am also a fan of Delta Green and I would be happy to see you do longer form content in that setting. However all I ask as someone who have watched several channels doing Delta Green actual plays is that you don't do Impossible Landscapes. I've enjoyed like three different channels do Impossible Landscapes and I would really really like to see something different.

Also: Eat the Reich is LOADS of fun - I really enjoyed playing it.(Is a great RPG for players to go *WAY* over the top with. Moo

DrReiCow

Death in Space, Death in Space, Death in Space, and Shadowdark, please! Moo

Ravs, Simon, Mark Hulmes and Boba playing Paranoia sounds fucking hysterical. Paranoia also feels like something you could do for JJ or a stream pretty easily. "Friend computer asks you to decorate this room for the festivities, only traitors would not know what the festivities are or what decorations are appropriate so, of course, no further explanation is needed. 😊".

From_Somewhere

1. Imperium Maledictum 2. Paranoia 3. Death in Space 4. Obscure Bonus: More Aliens and Mothership

Kurotoshiro

Eat the Reich is fantastic. The pre-generated characters are a chef's kiss.

Slayers RPG please!

On the adventure recommendations front: For Paranoia I recommend 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Termination Booth' where the troubleshooters mission is to escort a traitor to his public execution... And all sorts of madcap stuff happens along the way. Should be a good length for a Mystery Quest session too (It is for the Mongoose publishing edition of the game though, sure it would be easy to convert though since stats are largely irrelevant) For Delta Green, if you do a usual Mystery Quest one shot, I think 'PX Poker Night' is a good introduction. The players take on the role of deadbeats and f***ups in an airforce base in the middle of nowhere about to play their weekly poker game, then something in the air makes everyone in the base starts going insane. The published campaigns for Delta Green are amazing. Impossible Landscapes is a mind bending twin peaks style 'reality isn't real' psychological horror. God's Teeth is probably the darkest and most disturbing rpg book I've ever read

I'm currently listening to a podcast that uses Delta Green and it's a lot of fun! Also, so many cool suggestions from Tom! I'd love to take a stab into a couple of these books myself now! Thanks!

YourNeighborKnight

I'd like to see Obscure have its day! Along that vibe, also curious about Press Play by Adam Voss / World Champ Game Co., and Public Access by The Gauntlet. Into the Odd would be my second choice. Although I frequently confuse that one with Ultraviolet Grasslands (UVG) and can't ever decide which one I should invest in... Help! Thank you for rambling, Tom! This was very inspiring. ⭐

I also, am addicted to finding and reading TTRPG systems. Happy to see Paranoia on here, big fan of it. A couple ones I didnt see but really wouldnt expect to are; "Ten Candles" a oneshot horror game in which ends with everyone dying, I cant imagine this actually being a video because it needs 10 actual candles and fire as gameplay elements. "Engine Heart" my beloved, post apocalyptic, all that remains are the sentient machines (vending machine on tracks trying to sell its stock, toy dinosaur, automatic aquarium trying to find new fish/keep them alive...etc) humans built to serve them, still trying to fulfill tasks long since rendered useless or impossible. character creation in this one is a real pain though unfortunately.

Also Yokai Hunters Society! It’s Meiji-era ghost/monster hunting. The characters are regular people who are all members of a secret society that maintains folk knowledge of how to fight evil spirits. The world around them is changing because Japan has opened to the west and is rapidly modernizing. The samurai class has been outlawed. There’s only 4 stats, which is an interesting streamlined game engine. The era is high on decorum - like you might have to host an elegant tea ceremony in order to get information from a formal NPC who is some sort of royal attaché. Restraint is one of your stats, so if you roll poorly, you might flop the tea ceremony. Oh no! Rich on setting, real folklore and creepy scary yokai.

Sunzenaut Games is the publisher

I know you mentioned some of these are hard to find (like Obscure), could you add a few links to some of these books?

jankworx

Perhaps take a look at "It Came From the Late, Late, Late Show"?

1. Very happy with you showing off your collection, and giving these micro-reccomendations 2. Paranoia XP sounds like a great time. I think I'm going to pick that up myself now. Would love to see it on the channel. 3. I've been working through OSR systems to find a suitable replacement for D&D in my group. Dragonbane has a very cool setting, fun character creation, and beautiful artwork. However, some of its mechanics left a sour taste in my mouth. I especially hated having to roll for resting to regain my hit points and failing three times in a row. I can see the appeal of the system, but I moved on to something else very quickly. 4. I like that Mystery Quest is something that isn't d&d. If I wanted to watch live play of d&d there's thousands of other places I could go, like High Rollers for example. Mystery Quest is like a box of assorted chocolates where I can get a little taste for lots of different flavors. Your playthroughs of Mothership convinced me to buy the game, and I love it.

I once "won" paranoia by shooting myself in the face on a 24 hour charity game setting... really want to play it again

Oh man Tom, if you love Japanese horror and folklore you should definitely check out Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of the Honjo on Steam if you haven't already. Very fun spooky mystery solving in 1970s Tokyo.

Trys

This was great. I’m very interested if finding out about different games in different settings. Don’t worry about DnD it’s got lists of content out there… also… “dis-encourage”?

Ron Knowling

this is awesome, ty tom!

Ryan

Nice video showcasing systems I did not hear about yet (for the majority). Anything sci-fi and or horror/mystery is always fun for me to watch you guys play. But in the end you should pick games you are motivated to play. I will watch it either way!

Sebastian Ursich

I love this kind of video! I hope this new series will keep going because I love to see Tom share his passion and explain all the games he'll be (hopefully) running in the future! I'd love to see Tom run through "Paranoia" with a few different groups to see all their reactions/ problem solving.
