- So I've been modeling these poll boots for the past few days. I've never seen a poll get so close, I think these won by a single vote. Still, kinda happy that these won, been a while since I've done models like this.
- Pretty much done with the base model and ready for detailing. I was lucky enough to find images of this boot from multiple angles, so that got rid of a lot of guess work. Maybe a bit unlucky too, since the additional images revealed details I wouldn't have put in otherwise (like a side zipper, a full tread pattern that I wouldn't have made as complex haha etc), so that was extra work that I didn't anticipate. Still, once I had those images, I felt that I needed to represent this accurately and I do think this model is pretty accurate to the real thing, with some concessions here and there for time savings.
- Normally I would've just spent the extra day or 2 it would take to detail these and just post the final highpoly render, but since this model is pretty much completely sub-d, I figured I'd post some wireframes in the meantime. If you're interested in 3D modelling it can be nice to take a look at these every now and then, topology and edge flow can be cool to observe.
- That sole is probably the most complex I've modeled so far. In fact that alone actually took longer than the rest of the boot pieces combined. Still, was kinda fun, if not a bit tedious to get it so clean. Also since it is sub-d, I can pretty much easily have the 3D treads in the low poly, so the final game model should be pretty detailed.
- Rest of the boot isn't that interesting, when compared to the sole, but it's probably going to pop a little more once it's fully detailed with stitches, folds and other missing details.
