Aang channeled/merged with La, the Ocean Spirit, to form what is affectionately known as Koizilla. :) Zhao explained to Iroh that he had found an underground library, and in that library he found a scroll detailing the location of the Moon and Ocean spirits' mortal forms. During the time that Tui was dead, and everything was in black and white except for the firebending and Koizilla, Yue's eyes were also still blue, a clue as to her significance. I have heard that the writers completely forgot about Hahn's secret mission, so at the last minute they added him rushing Zhao and getting unceremoniously chucked overboard (you do hear the splash).
