Chat post discussion
Added 2025-11-09 11:17:45 +0000 UTCHazbin certainly brought a lot to the table in regards to discussion this week, including Vox's actions against Alastor. Vox's mistreatment and de-humanization of Alastor is not okay, even if Vox is angry at him. Making Alastor watch while Vox and Valentino had sex was not fine either, even if it was played as "just a joke" in the producers' minds. Situations like that can be very sensitive for many people and should never be treated lightly. I am, honestly, very surprised that that made it into the final show.
That being said, my apologies if anyone felt uncomfortable in chat this week during the talks. I think it's important we, as adults, can discuss situations, but I realize others may not want to be involved in the conversation. If you wanted to discuss it maturely, it's fine. If you didn't want to discuss it, that's fine, too. We all work through and process these things in our own ways.
As I've always said here, consent is key. Vox did not get consent to make Alastor sit in the cuck chair, and that is very troubling.
I personally think the show should have just had Vox capture Alastor, insult him as usual, and that was that. The tail comment insinuation and the bedroom scene definitely presented a dark turn. I wish at least the producers had included a real warning, not just a boiler plate warning about the usual foul language present in the show.

I'm so sorry for what happened to you, Morgan. The idea of "fixing" people who doesn't want to participate in any kind of sexual activities shows how sex-obsessed societies are. I hope you were manage to heal from that and from your highschool crush experience π« Imo, while making the scene with Alastor on cuck chair, production team thought it would be a nice joke and not harmful, since Alastor was "only" watching others having sex. For me that scene didn't evoke much reaction, so I also didn't think it could pose an issue to others. Discussions here make me realize some people felt off by that scene, so I assume production team might notice they should have handled this differently after receiving reactions from viewers. Don't know if putting a trigger warning would be enough to solve the issue or changing the scene itself.

2025-11-09 21:50:09 +0000 UTC[TW for sensitive topics] So much to unpack here! Sorry if my comments are disorganized. First, thank you for opening up a mature discussion on this subject! I've been attacked and mocked for my opinions in other places (Facebook, X), so it's nice to have a place to share my thoughts where that won't happen. π The latest episode was an emotional roller coaster for me for a few reasons: The Rosie reveal: As an aroace, one of my pet peeves in all media, not just Hazbin, is the lack of attention given to platonic relationships. If a work includes them at all, they're usually overshadowed by romance or sometimes family. That was one of my favorite things about Hazbin. It has romantic relationships. It has familial relationships, but it also had two examples of platonic relationships (Alastor/Rosie and Angel Dust/Cherri Bomb) that were given a decent amount of screen time and not treated as an afterthought. Now to take one of those platonic relationships and reduce it to a master & servant dynamic, it kind of feels like a slap in the face, like platonic relationships don't matter. Alastor & Vox's past: This was the closest Hazbin has come to making me cry because I've been in Vox's shoes. Long story short, one of the only people I was ever romantically attracted to let me know he wasn't interested by yelling at me in front of the whole school. Yes, Vox is a bad person. No, the past doesn't justify his actions, but at the same time, I get it. I know how much it hurts to be rejected and humiliated by someone you admired, and I know how it feels to wish that person would get some sort of comeuppance. Which leads me to the elephant in the roomβ¦ Vox's Revenge: That was uncomfortable to watch, from start to finish! The whole thing left me unsure how to feel because on the one hand, I understand Vox's anger. On the other hand, I felt secondhand revulsion on Alastor's behalf. I'm sex-repulsed aroace and have been pressured into sexual situations, be it watching or taking part, under the guise of βhelpingβ me. So seeing Alastor forced to watch Vox and Val in bed hit home in the worst way. It honestly baffles me why there wasn't a warning at the start of this episode like there was for βMasqueradeβ back in season 1. Was this an oversight on the creative team's part, or do they somehow see this as not so bad because Alastor had to watch as opposed to actually take part? If it's the latter, that leads to all sorts of unfortunate implications. π€ As disturbing as that scene was, I think some good can come from it because it opens the door to conversations (like this one) about SA against asexual people and how society tends to diminish it. Also, for the record, I've never felt triggered by anything said in the chats. I may be indifferent or unsure how to participate when it veers into spicy territory, but not triggered.
