Added 2024-03-10 00:44:05 +0000 UTC๐ My first contact with Akira Toriyama's works was on a Saturday morning cartoon show that aired on a popular TV channel. I was around 9 years old and had physical education class on Saturdays. Before going to school, I would always watch the adventures of the young Goku. I had already been exposed to other popular anime series, but Dragon Ball was the one that stayed with me the longest.
When I started watching Dragon Ball Z on another popular channel, I would spend hours drawing the characters, buying the hero magazine at newsstands, and trying to replicate (failing miserably) those beautiful drawings of all the transformed Saiyans. I was very eager to see the transformations, and when I first saw Goku transforming to beat Freeza, I was thrilled! When I was older, I read a manga that reminded me a lot of classic Dragon Ball, the manga is One Piece. I have carried this passion for over 20 years, and I know that without Dragon Ball, I would not have One Piece.
Toriyama's legacy is much greater than just his works. I carry valuable lessons of overcoming and effort that were taught by him. I know I promised that this month I would only post maps in the space theme, but I couldn't help but pay homage to the Sensei of our Senseis.
Thank you, Akira Toriyama, you will never be forgotten!
