His neck snapped back, a brutal whiplash tearing through sinew.  His spine felt shattered, battered and bent as it shouldn’t.  His skull throbbed with a vicious, unrelenting ache, and his ears screamed with a piercing, endless wail.

So I don't feel so guilty about people paying for dead time, I thought I'd post chapters of something I've been working on. I’m currently working on book 2 of I Shall Remain (planned 10 books total), book 4 of Blood and Qi, and this.

I write pretty fast, and by not getting stuck or getting in a slump by only working on one thing, my output has increased.  I do work full-time so I can’t write as much as I’d like to, but I still have decent output considering.

B2 Chapter 5 (rough draft)

Dan didn’t want to take any risks.  He tried ignoring all the tortured bellowing around him to hear or somehow sense if Balls was nearby. 

To orient himself, Dan considered the wall nearest to him the south.  If so, Walla was towards the east.  He ran away west.

Since he could move through the damned like they weren’t there, he sprinted through them all.  A couple hundred or so yards into his run, as he passed through a strange looking demon-like type ...

B2 Chapter 4 (rough draft)

After all the cycling and testing Dan did with his diamond mana-type, his core nearly emptied.  Filling it took almost no time at all.

He tested and tested and worked on controlling his mana and getting basic mana techniques to work for a very long time.  So long that he almost forgot about Balls.

Dan became startled and lost the formation he was working on as he heard someone say, “Oi, mate,” behind him.

As Dan finished answering what seemed like the ghost’s millionth question, he wondered if he’d ever get used to the anguished screams coming from all around him.  It was maddening and impossible to tune out.

Chapter 68

It was impossible for Xotl to track the passage of time while trapped inside of Dan.

All Xotl could do was look out through Dan’s eyes at a familiar yet very unfamiliar landscape.  It was definitely Hell, but a much higher, harsher, and more deadly layer than his own.

Xotl wondered what would happen when Dan finally died.  When he asked the angel about that months ago, she didn’t provide all the specifics, but she did say they wouldn’t die along with him, and if he managed to reach another world, they could leave his soul.

Xotl would love to escape Hell, but without a skinsuit to conceal himself in, survival could prove difficult as many mortals harbored terrible bigotry against demons.

Chapter 66

“Oh, shit,” said Xotl.

He knew he’d be better off if Dan lived and made it to the old and rich world of the second phase, but if it meant Dan being murdered, Xotl wouldn’t mind returning to Hell so much.

The prude stood, went to her usual moping spot, sat, and began to mope again. 

“Your name, mortal,” demanded Duke Agares, “I’ll have it before I slay you.  And you did defeat the champion.  Your name should be honored for such a deed.”

Dan invoked STORM, spun to slash through a devil flying at his back, faced another area, and stomped the ground. 

It didn’t look to Xotl that he killed anyone with that Lava Stomp, but he must’ve since he was able to stomp the ground right after, then another emanation of orangish light extended from the sword and cut down the survivors.

For some reason, a lot of smoke was coming off of Dan as he blazed away just in time to avoid a slew of incoming invocations and fliers,...

Xotl asked, “This is really exciting, isn’t it?”

“Here we are, after so long, summoning the champion.”

Chapter 63*

Dan opened his eyes.  He didn’t have to check a Profile Reader.  He knew his soul increased to 8-Stars. 

He did it.  He really did it.

He now had a real shot at winning.  Earth had a real shot at surviving.

What had been bothering him for a while now was his lack of natural Stat increases.  He had worked so hard for so few gains. 

He had been hoping to use his Trait token for something much better, but he needed to use it for a Stat...

Dan sat on the ground as thoughts raced through his mind such as why Aphariel was there, why she protected a demon, and where she and Xotl disappeared off too. 

He was happy his plan worked.  He hoped he caused a lot of damage and killed a ton of demons with that trigger.

Chapter 61

Dan cleared all the Boss area Trials.  From the last puzzle Trial, the necklace he selected gave protection against demonic damage. 

He equipped the necklace.  Other than the void-knife he sewed onto his belt, the other rewards were stored.

Since devils were never named after progenitors, the prude was assuming Asmodon was a demon, and the necklace would help protect Dan against his attacks.

Being a demon didn’t mean Asmodon would employ a mana-type causing ...

Chapter 60

The prude asked, “Okay, where are we?”

Bob said, “Dan ran the Trial of Suffering four times.  The last Trait token dropped from the Boss on his last run.  We think he’s getting ready to head to the forge and turn it in.”

Now that Xotl knew Bob was a dumb broad, her kissing up to the prude made perfect sense to him, as did all Bob’s gayness.  It also now made perfect sense why Az’ga was far more normal than other dumb broads.

That battle happened yesterday.  This fat prick just refuses to die.

We have no more tricks up our sleeves.  Now, it’s just waiting for our Veil and Sortileges to reset once we hit the year mark.
