Happy very very very early holidays! Planning ahead for Dec, i'll be running a com event for some monstrous transformations >: ). (With a somewhat chrimnas twist sprinkled in with the vibes of these mischievous toys.) You can read descriptions of each at the bottom of this post! VVV
These slots will be fullbodies of the POST-TF in lines and flat colours, drawn as the monster would be in it's bestiary entry. The monsters you see on display are all your available options! Some can be any species, but others are more species specific. For those, the species result must be in the same shape of the monster. For example, Rocking Horses need to be equine, and Dandy Lions need to be recognizably a lion.
If you have any questions, please ask below!
-----------------------------------------Monster Descriptions Below
Puppet Guards already have a drawn appearance, but for all the others;
Puppet Guard: These monsters are the rank of file acrobats of the Dungeonmasters forces. They all wear matching armor and speak with a LOUD and COLOURFUL cadence that’s impossible to mistake. They rattle down from the dark ceilings on strings, ready to ambush and engage noisy adventurers.
Nutcracker: A rare sight, Nutcrackers tower over the average man at a lofty 7-10ft tall. They aren’t very mobile, but they have keen eyes that can spot motion through even the thickest darkness and a cork musket that could daze even the stoutest adventurers. Don’t let their lack of blade lull you into engaging them in melee, however. Their massive jaws aren’t just for show.
Tin Soldier: These tin men march on patrol where the puppets can’t reach. Resembling the simple toy, these automatons follows their orders on instinct and have a fierce loyalty towards each other. Their painted on faces and unblinking eyes create a startling sight for those stumbling upon their patrols in the dark.
Merry Puppet: The ‘enchanters’ of the Toymakers elite monsters, clad in numerous jingling bells and bright colourful garb. These puppets hate to see adventurers sad and afraid, and use magic from afar to purge any fear, paranoia or wariness from them…which often leads to them not reacting as they should when a monster approaches them. The Merry Puppet cares not for what comes after, though.
Loup Garotte: The Toymakers most elite, and lethal, puppets. The Loup Garotte are nearly legend amongst the level, as they are rarely seen by survivors. Their long segmented body makes them extremely agile as they woosh around parties with claw and fang, only to ensnare them in their strings for a killing blow.
--Toy Monsters--
Rocking Horse: These daunting toys creak around the floor with dark glass eyes and a cascade of jingling bells adorning their painted wooden bodies. They stand nearly twice the size of a warhorse, but are fastened surely to their wooden rockers. Following behind you closely, you’ll never catch them moving until it’s too late to outrun them, and you don’t want to know what happens when they catch up.
Dandy Lion: These button-eyed stuffed gentlemen host tea parties within the level open to any who approach, simply follow the sound of polite conversation and the glow of the lantern. But be wary, amongst such company you must always mind your P’s and Q’s, lest it rend your body with claws and fangs, devouring you whole and crushing your bones under impossible strength. But don’t worry, that’s only if you’re rude.
Raggedy Butler: A monster created by Dandy Lions. They serve happily and readily, restitched and converted by the lords after receiving the lofty judgement of being “salvageable”. After a quick devouring, victims within the Dandy Lion are educated in all matters polite and reliable so that they may staff the tea parties with a smile on their face and a jingle in their bell.
Rattle Snake: A simple monster. These serpentfolk-like toys coil up in passageways and dark pockets, waiting for anything to wander by. With eyes ringing it’s entire head, there’s simply no way to sneak up on these monsters without alerting them. Their cacophonous rattling alerts any other monster within earshot to intruders, so make sure you watch your step.
Stuffed Beastie: As if wandering beasts wasn’t bad enough on the surface, you’re not even safe down here. These plush monsters prowl aimlessly, usually around treasures and supplies. Don’t let the cotton stuffing and cloth fool you. Their massive bodies can turn even blunt teeth to tools of death. Adorable, cuddly tools of death.
--Common Denizens--
Ratking: The original folk of this dungeon level, according to themselves. These ratfolk have nothing but bitter hatred for the Dungeon master of the level, and take great pleasure in hunting and snipping his puppets wherever they can. Their king was slain many years ago, and they are cursed to reside in the fallen kingdom under threat of petrification should they leave. If one is to remain in this level, they are good allies to have on your side.
Krampish: A curious creature. The Krampish arrived to the level from elsewhere in the Dungeon and soon made themselves quite comfortable. Overtime, they have become influenced by the magic of the dungeon to take on a toy-like appearance while remaining partially organic. They like to stalk travelers from the shadows, striking out to abduct the ones that are cruel and deceitful for unknown purposes. If one can catch them, though, they aren’t against striking a deal instead.
Dress-up Impish: A variant of the more common Impish found all throughout the Dungeon. Rather than hijacking shadows, these ones take advantage of the levels gloom to take on a more solid form. They sneak upon sleeping travellors and swap their faces for the love of the game. Much like the typical Impish, these ones aren’t malicious even if they are deeply annoying and unsettling.
