Admittedly, I really need to get better at splotch/stain effects. They always just end up looking undetailed and unfinished, but all details have been stomped out of them, right? It is quite the conundrum...
Anyway, third fail to come next week!

When talking about detailing, thinking of a squashed figure less as a flat surface and perhaps more like a piece of gum might be helpful. Their bodily details might be gone, but certainly aspects of a fluid or semi-fluid might remain. The various slight bulges and dimples, even places where they've conformed to whatever surface they're stuck on, can be places to add shading and highlights that might help give the splotch a little more detail.

But as for the splotches, I've always desired that you didn't do the cartoon splotches and kept the body in-tact. I don't mean in a gore way, just didn't do cartoon flatten or puddle with eyes. But it's your game so you do as you wish.
