I need your feedback

Hello guys! I am writing this entry to try to figure what your imput would be on changing one main rule for my Patreon.

Now my idea from the beginning was to create Patreon with content that only Patreons would be able to see. I believe that leaking content put on here for the general public would take away from what makes you all special.. being able to see exclusive content that I draw.

This has had positive AND negative results for me. What's good is the amazing support from all of you, which I am eternally grateful for. Sadly, I can received quite a bit of harsh criticism from everyone else who have labeled me a money hungry paywall "faggot". The more I draw for Patreon, the harsher it gets.

With that being said, I would like to know what you guys think if I publicly posted drawings done from previous months in lower quality to the public, instead of just throwing in a P somewhere in the middle in order to grab new supporters? (which hasn't really worked well as far as criticism and insults go) Let's say, I draw for you guys for one whole month, then the following month release them in lower quality to the people?

It's ok to tell wether you like this idea or not. Remember that I do this for you guys and the last thing I want is to upset those who support me. If anything, please add suggestions as to what could be the best alternative. I would love to see what you guys think.

Once again, thank you all for the amazing support <3

Thank you for your support ! I had so many “fake” patrons leave in just one day.. just before their pledges went through.. it’s very discouraging to go through this, specially when they schemed their way in here.. but there really isn’t anything I can do about that. All I want to do is concentrate on creating content for those who do stay with me.

I agree with Ruffy, Patreon is helping to pay the bills. You do give them content, if they wanna leave let them. Your real fans will stick with you and there the ones that count.

Yes I agree with you. And that's exactly what I'll do. The last thing I want is for people to start boycotting me just because I put a "P" to censor Patreon drawings... >.>' Thank you very much for your support!

Thank you very much! I will do what most people suggested. Still, Patreons get the better end of the deal (plus rewards for those who choose higher tiers)

I agree. I will do just that then! Thank you for your imput!

lol! well yes, that "P" pisses everyone off appartently. I didn't expect that to happen, specially when artists offer the material for as little as 1$...

Most people are in agreement with you. Thank you very much!

Thank you for your imput!

Lol.. it's ok. All I wanted was to create exclusive content for Patreons. I didn't think people were so ... offended to say the least, about this decision.

Exactly. Thank you very much for your imput!

yes, that's great imput. Everyone seems to share the same opinions as you. Thank you very much!

This is great imput. I will do just that c:

Good imput!

I know most of these complainers wouldn't even support me if I gave these drawings out for free :S They believe art should be free (sorta what happened with music and Limewire/Morpheus back in early 2000's)

I'm here to support you, having access to high Res of the art is great but ultimately I just want to see you keep creating. There will always be people that complain they aren't getting stuff for free and listening to them whine and insult is awfully annoying. Providing low Res right away for a cheap tier and releasing the low Res a month or two later for free is well reasonable and can still help you attract new supporters.

Ruffy

On a personal level, I myself pay for art so that it exists, not to have exclusive rights to it. However, this is your Patreon, and i'll be fine with whatever choice you go with.

The most successful method I've seen up to this point is to release ALL material in a low res after a month. Keep it at VGA level. You Patreons should have access to the higher level resolutions & at the time of release. Don't post teasers with a censor on them, this really pisses people off. The upper tiers should have access to even higher resolutions, PSD files & commission / suggestion rights. But if you make it clear with every post that even as low as the $1 tier gets access a month in advance you'll find the $1 tier skyrocket & surpass the income of the others. $1 sounds trivial & even the crybabies who scream foul will be tempted.

I hate the friggin "P" and how do you advertise without showing some art, what Adam said in his post about 2-3 months seems like a good idea. But, it your business, so please do what is needed. I'm 70 kinda hard to piss me off about anything any more. (ha)

If you're aiming for the highest amount of patreons (and you should) releasing censored/low res images to the public and linking back to your patreon will give this result.

Slayerduck

I think keep it patreon only for 2-3 month, then release it publicly in full, we still benefit, but doesn't take away long term from others.

Adam 'RDL' Taylor

I think it should be a timed delay to be honest. After one month, or whatever you decide, it gets released to the public. Either way, screw those guys getting upset at you for you taking care of your supporters first

Creative censorship (like mentioned above) is a good one. Just be weary, people will often try to shoot you down anyway because you're trying to make money off something they like. It's understandable because if everyone goes under pay wall, they can't afford to pay everybody. But I guess what would be better is a mix. Some creatively censored, others low quality. That way when they can afford it they can jump onboard.

I just recently found your art and became a patreon here but I have seen what you have talked about in some comment sections of your works. As far as their rude comments though I hope you don't take it to heart, people can just be really rude at times. Besides these are people getting angry to the point of insulting you over not getting your work for free so its not exactly coming from a friendly source . As far as I can tell though your overall set up on rewards and how you post pictures isn't to different from other patreons I follow. Additionally exclusive rewards tend to get leaked no matter the patreon unless its a super small scale ones with hardly any to leak the rewards anyways. As for what I'd recommend to suppress the haters and continue to give some reward to patrons I'd say ditch the fully censored pic being post to sites for promotion. Instead while its slightly more work you could kill two birds with one stone by adding in some variations of the picture. Like the recent Coco X Crash pic for example. These can be stuff like a the Uka Uka Mask/crate covering up the naughty bits, nude/ topless/ect , or even just versions with or without cum. This way you can just post a simple vanilla version to other sites and give patrons the extra ones as a reward.

This is, in a way, a delicate and complicated situation. I'd like to start by saying those people do NOT have a right to your work, and even less right to devalue you as a person (And also, if they're still using gay as an insult, they're a few decades behind the times). What you create belongs to you. That said, I didn't come to be a supporter because of art with a 'p' on it. I, personally, get annoyed seeing what equates to advertisements in place of art on sites like IB, and those pictures I tend to avoid or actively ignore when they pop up. I discovered your patreon through the cleverly censored Winnie picture that you did, it was well done but I understand not wanting to do that for every picture you create (it would be super time-consuming I'm certain.) With these things in mind, I support the idea of releasing lower quality and/or fewer variations of the pics you create for patreon to the public a while (maybe a week, maybe a month) after patreon supporters would be able to see it. In addition, one of the things I've seen go spectacularly well for Patreon artists is to do Patreon exclusive polls for the next art piece. This gives you several advantages: You'll know what your viewers are most interested in. You'll be able to put in your public postings "Patreons help decide the next thing I draw!" which is a decent tagline to pull in new supporters, and you get to choose what the items in the poll are so you're still drawing things you want to draw. Sorry that I've written so much and potentially taken up a lot of your time, I hope this helps in some way, and thank you for being an awesome artist!

I've seen a few artists that would have the full/high resolution pics on their Patreon page, and post a lower res version of the pic on their other galleries. That would probably work the best, those who don't/can't support can see the pic, while those who do support you can get the full pic.

AJ Durai

You are a modern artist, and Patreon is your gallery. Don't let them under value your worth.

James Stephens

They are just mad because they are broke ass holes who want to enjoy your hard work for free. Don't give in to them.
