Cute Collie Daki - Slightly re-done

So I thought I was ready to blow this up and start finishing it up, but apparently not quite. Whoops.

This is another instance of Namiin sitting and helping me, after fumbling on my own for a while. At first, I wasn't happy with the values. Everything was really ark, a lot more than I intended for it to be, so I sat and played with adjustment layers for a while. Then I wasn't happy with the sheets... again. But just playing with layers over my painting wasn't working, so I asked Molten for her input.

First, she showed me that Ava here really needed some cast shadows on her body, like the one on her lowr knee from the higher one, and by her shoulder blade from her left arm on the back view. Cast shadows are something I've consistently forgotten to add, so I'm glad she reminded me. We also punched up some of the color, and I made the ribbons interact with her a bit more - I like that change, especially.

After that, I took it upon myself to do something a little radical - just do the sheets from scratch, but this time, with layers. No more painting everything on one layer because "they're just sheets." That turned out to be a really good decision, too! I am MUCH happier with them now.

I also added a little more visual interest with a top sheet, rather than her just laying in a sea of blue... I think it all helps a lot. Just gotta finish them up, then leave them be and get back to the character.

I know this one's been in progress for ages, ahhhh... I AM making progress, it's just tough right this minute. But I think it'll pay off, and get easier soon. Just pray for me.
