It’s not the only thing we can do, and there is no reason to be hopeful unless we do more. Pulling the lever every 2-4 years for the likes of Hakeem Jeffries or Chuck Schumer will at best briefly slow the downfall. We need to replace leaders unwilling to do more than write a strongly-worded letter, and challenge them with power structures outside the two parties. -Get involved with your local primaries NOW. Odds are someone is running a campaign to challenge a status quo candidate in your area, and needs volunteers and donations. -Join or form a union and/or tenants association -Join your local DSA, WFP, etc. -If you still have downtime between meetings and events for all those organizations, read up: Jane McAlevey, Joe Burns, Kim Moody, Richard Wolff, Chomsky, Zinn, etc.
