Cody, much better line of argument, and many good logical points, and great appeal to emotion this time around when discussing gaza (very heartfelt). I now honestly feel more bad for gaza's civilians than I did prior to your episode. There were a few war crimes I was not aware of. I have already been pushing the direction of stopping Israels attack, but been unable to argue that point too well. I can't ask someone I'm arguing against to listen to this hour long appeal, but I can remember a few of those war crimes, though they're also diluted in using the bombing civilian death rate as the average rate of civilian murder, please stop doing that statistical misdirection. Things i can use in quick conversations to argue for the stop of the conflict: -firing on civilians who are surrendering or using white flags -bulldozing neighborhoods and celebrating it like a music video (horrifying) -decades of bombing civilian targets (not noted in video, but its been going in Both directions between these two for a while) -gaza leans more towards an occupation than a new country border -a countries right to exist doesn't supersede a civilian or ethnicities right to exist -Netanyahu in a speech literally quoted a bible passage after the oct 7 attack which references genocide (wiping out a city to zero) -genocide is defined also as making life so hard that a people disperses or stops bleeding -claiming Netanyahu wants hamas to be strong so he can be the hero (allowing state funding to gaza, even potential enemies of israel, though aide does need to be allowed in, so this weakens it) Clean-up points you may want to consider for the episode: -the argument of border encroachment doesn't work when there's been many decades of war, many of those wars which were to wipe israel out of the world, you said this ep. wouldnt be about the long history -arguing that israel didn't take the intel seriously enough, if they responded with a battalion every time that threat came, they'd be broke. This is an indefensible logic, to confirm, mad lib the actors. -intent of Hamas, look at their charter, destruction of israel and the jews is literally their reason for existing, they tweet it often (stop saying X, its tweets)

The men of Hamas are men of God... They do not use civilians, let alone children, as shields.... look at the population density of Rafah compared to LA or Columbus Ohio.

2024-02-29 16:04:54 +0000 UTCIt's so crazy hearing this stuff and people out there who think Hamas is still in the wrong and that what Israel is doing is okay. It's disheartening, especially with how easy access this information is to find of the horrors Palestinians are facing as well as the blatant lies, misinformation and disinformation Israel has been spewing. I truly hope Palestine gets to survive through all this but it truly looks bleak with so much of Gaza destroyed beyond human comprehension.

2024-02-28 21:41:00 +0000 UTCI don't know how collaborative the process is with you guys now (like the last time I saw Cody have a writing credit was the very short Joodle Poodleson ep) but I feel like I might end up needing shoulder surgery if I extend all the props to Katie Goldin that I think she deserves for this episode - I legit worry that your writers are gonna get poached by dumbass sitcoms all the time. I fully expected that DCB would get this one but man, Katie is so funny while remaining exhaustively comprehensive - imagine being Jon Stewart and stumbling upon this and realizing how much better your staff is than his! Katie, I'm doffing the absolute fuck out of my fedora @ you Episodes like this make me so happy + honestly kind of honored that you guys cared so much about our dumb little community that loved your show, you chose to keep doing this instead of taking the incredibly reasonable DOB/Soren path, the Internet (hell, the world) needs videos like this that have enough time to explain the situation without minimalizing incredibly important points while still saying what needs to be said so that people really understand... I'm rambling here but Molly made me think about it again, I've been saying it since episode #1 but thank you for everything guys, you're really a force for good in the world and I wish I could afford to give you more, you deserve it all ❤️
