2024-01-21 19:23:24 +0000 UTCKatie being surprised that 70%+ Republicans agree that "immigrants are poisoning the blood of the country," and her follow up comment that "It's really hard to humanize this," should give us clarity to the reality of the situation we're in. Respectfully, she is able to find common ground and get along with her neighbors but at the end of the day *that won't matter.* Whatever common ground, common fears, common desires we have, there is a fundamental, **irreconcilable** disagreement on the humanity and right to live of non-Americans, queers, and misbehaving minorities. This has been the American Heart since well before 2016. None of this is surprising. This is America. This is who we are. There is no convincing, there is only making sure that they don't get the power to do what they want to do.

2024-01-21 05:17:14 +0000 UTCBased on absolutely no research on my part, it sounds like the American plugs and outlets are the issue. The US uses 110v, most other countries use 220v. I'm going to guess that makes a difference in cold weather and Norway is a country that needed to make it's power system work in lots of cold and actually cares if things work after they've made money.

2024-01-19 21:47:45 +0000 UTCThe argument that Hamas needs to release all hostages as a precondition to peace completely ignores the fact that Israel itself has been holding many thousands of Palestinians hostage since long before October 7. We use different words for it, but someone who is detained indefinitely without charge is a hostage. Why isn't the release of those hostages a precondition for peace?

2024-01-19 21:47:30 +0000 UTCThere's a few glitches/issues with it (they bundled some software with the last update they shouldn't have, but they say they will fix it) but using a browser like Brave removed all if not most of the ad-cancer in websites, and also blocks those trackers. I've been enjoying ad and tracker free browsing for years and it's been wonderful.

Watching Israel's case the next day was hard, but the only legitimate legal argument was on jurisdiction. And that was the only receivable argument, the rest is pretty much nonesense. International support is also very meaningful. Namibia speaking out against Germany, whilst Germany silences Jewish voices like Marione Ingram & Masha Gessen... Hopefully things are shifting.

None of the search engines give good results and if you use them for shopping, they only give you Amazon, Walmart or Temu to choose from. And every website has so much ad-cancer now, using them on a phone is infuriating. Between the pop-up videos and ads between every paragraph, there’s about a square inch left to read. Plus behind the scenes, you know Bezos, Zuckerberg and Musk are recording everything you do. And the government is doing it too!
