Texas' Reproductive Cruelty, Ben's Complaints, And EVEN MORE Economic Vibes - AD FREE
Added 2023-12-15 18:46:19 +0000 UTCHi. Tom Reimann (@startthemachine) joins Katy and Cody to discuss the case of Kate Cox in Texas, the House Republicans' vote to open an official impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, Ben Dreyfuss's demands that the LEFT be nicer to him when informing him about genocide, and why the economic vibes (still) feel off.

@Katy I had a friend whose little kid went into a restaurant (the child was a toddler), and the waitress asked the child what they wanted. They looked up and said in a little demonic voice, "I want the flesh of the unborn!" The mother kind of headpalmed and said, "Eggs, he wants eggs."

2023-12-20 22:43:55 +0000 UTC@Cody, I'd be quoting you to you, but if somebody getting stuck in traffic because of an anti-genocide march made them pro-genocide, they were never anti-genocide. They just know how awful they look stating their true beliefs, so they need to justify it - "look what you made me do!" is what every abuser says, always. Also, in the "If Books Could Kill" episode of Men are from Mars (or maybe it's the love language episode? It's one of those), the author uses examples of couples where men say they would have unloaded the dishwasher but the women said "can you do it?" rather than "would you do it?", which causes the man to reject/blow off the request. The author goes on to say it was the woman's fault for not asking correctly rather than the mans' fault for being a shitty partner. The podcast then goes into a deep dive about how communication works up and down hierarchies. Basically, people at the top of the hierarchy will often reject requests on bullshit technicalities as a show of dominance / because they didn't have to respect the other person, and any concession is framed as a huge favor when it would have just been a decent thing to do for another person. So yeah, "the left got a little too PC so now I think genocide is good," because time is a flat circle to which we are all lashed for all eternity. Merry Xmas!

Some More News
2023-12-15 23:52:00 +0000 UTCIt's like Mohammed El-Kurd wrote, "the semantic violence we practice with our words dwarfs the decades of systemic and material violence". Some people will have you believe that as long as someone's voice is level & they are well spoken, they can be reasoned with, they are not committing violence. But Biden, Blinken & John Kirby, their actions, their words, have resulted in the death of many Palestinians, their actions as US elected officials giving political cover & military support to Israel directly correlate with thousands of death that were preventable. Of more that could be prevented still. The way we talk about violence needs to be reframed. There is no asking politely for people to stop a genocide.
