Under-The-Radar SCOTUS Disasters w/ the 5-4 Podcast - AD-FREE

Hi. In today's episode, Rhiannon, Michael, and Peter from the 5-4 Podcast (@fivefourpod) join Katy and Cody to talk about a few Supreme Court rulings that likely got less attention than they should have in the wake of the Dobbs ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade. They discuss junior varsity football coaches, Border Patrol agents using excessive force, and our vanishing Miranda rights.

When people with a six figure income are living a seven figure income lifestyle, you know something is up.

Tbh I'm not sure if you can bring up charges like that against sitting justices. I know the constitution allows for impeachment proceedings but I don't know if there's a legal avenue for criminal corruption.

Would corruption charges brought against Scotus chasten them?

on the miranda rights and excluding illegaly obtained evidence - i agree there need to be severe consequences for when that happens...but it should hit the person responsible for that violation - if the consequence just hits the persecution... the cop responsible will absolutely do it again, because they got off scot free illegally obtained evidence is still evidence and needs to be examined for finding the the truth - though the way it was obtained needs to factor into that process (so thorough examination whether the evidence may have been planted for example) also witness testimony and confessions really need to be considered the lowest level of reliability for evidence - the way our memory works just means that its massively unreliable and easily influenced mind you, getting juries of random people to internalize that is a nigh on impossible task... but in the absence of better rules... i guess you need to at least maintain those miranda rules as some disincentive
