Honestly to me, the bar being so low for dads in media is more of an insult to dad's in general than mom's. The reason the bar is so low is because dad's are almost always the joke characters in children's media, often being just another one of the kids, while the mom is usually the more responsible one. Mom's have so many good one's to compare each other to, while dad's if they are semi loving or competent it's a miracle. Dad's like the professor in the PowerPuff Girls, original, reboot prof can burn in a fire, are sadly such a rare commodity a decent to semi-garbage dad will be praised.
