OKAY! Thank youuuuu! I didn't remember that scene and I was like "Pretty sure I would have remembered it as it was a nice moment to have". I really enjoy that they added that back in and allowing for more resolution for that tie between them now :D

yes! the scene where Tanjiro was waking up and the sick boy was forced to leave was in the manga, but not in the movie.
i remember being really upset when i saw they skipped that part when i first saw the movie lmao, then relieved when i heard they were gonna add new scenes for the anime, knowing this was one of them
though they showed it in the anime, they still didn't explain what happened.
since i'm terrible at summarizing things i'll just type out what it says in the manga volume:
''This sick boy no longer bears any hostility. He was prepared to hurt others, if it meant he could escape the suffering caused by his incurable illness. But inside Tanjiro's dream... the kindness of his youth returned. Inside Tanjiro's heart, the air was clear, and what's more, there were shining little sprites, manifestations of Tanjiro's kindness. Guessing that the boy was searching for the spiritual core, the shining sprites took his hand and guided him. Before the spiritual core, the source of light and warmth, the youth could only weep. But Tanjiro woke up on his own, and soon pulled him back to the real world. The boy grabbed hold of one of the sprites... and would not let go...
Part of Tanjiro's heart, that shining little sprite, is now inside the boy's heart. It shines there, bright and warm, where before there had only been darkness.''
It's just so wholesome and heartwarming, it might be my favorite scene in this whole arc.
