As someone who has a chronic illness and has since birth, I really understand both sides of it. I really identified with Eda with pretty much this whole curse storyline. People coddle you, they underestimate you, they push you aside, and it can be really hard for the people around you to learn how to be there for you the right way. What I mean by that, is that for every person dealing with any kind of chronic illness, it's up to them to decide how they feel about it. Now that things with my health have settled down, it's not gone and it never will be, but its not one life and death crisis after another like it was when I was a little girl, my mom has decided to live in this fantasy where that means that my illness is gone and I don't have it anymore. That's not true, the parts of my body that were impacted by it will never work the same way or as well as they do for someone who wasn't born with this disease, and it impacted the way the rest of my body developed, plus I've actually found it really healthy to take ownership of it and accept it as part of what has made me, me, so for her to act like its not there anymore, then I don't feel accepted. So I really felt for Eda when young Eda heard Gwen arguing with the healer through the door, and when she sent her flying away. Like, this is part of who Eda is, it's her curse, she gets to decide what to do/how to feel about it, and affording her anything less is taking away her agency, and believe me that has a real impact on a person's self-worth.

This was such a great episode. Creepy Luz is real. :) Can't wait for the library episode (and more Lumity) Saturday.
