It's actually kinda funny but Batman was pretty dark in the beginning it got toned down in the 60's and 70'a got dark again in the 80's and stayed more towards that as the years have gone by. DC has the trouble o trying to make everything like Batman, which dark and gritty works well with but not so much others, like Superman lol.

This is honestly one of my favorite episodes of the whole series. I adore what they did with Darkwing by first giving us a taste of it every once and a while LP said in the first DW episode that he's Darkwings biggest fan and so the writers took that and expanded on it. THen throughout season one and two, we get little hints here and there until it leads to this masterpiece where we finally meet the actor who played DW (Who Ironically is the actor who played DW, Jim Cummings) and they take what they set up and morph it into this clever plot about reboots, something that the Darkwing plot has been set up from the start. Launchpad represents the fans of the old. The ones who hold the original in a high regard and are hoping for more of it. Dewey represents the new fans who didn't see the original show and are introduced to it for the first time. obviously, the Darkwing movie is a knock at all of the new reboots that turned something people loved as a kid into the dark and gritty. It's just so much about this plot is so clever and I don't think I've pieced it all together yet. I love Darkwing and I'm happy he's finally on the show and trust me this isn't the last time we get dangerous...we got a taste of DW in this episode and in the future...well...let's just say after an episode I wanted more so much that I went and watched the full series on Disney plus. I love Darkwing duck and thank you for reading my rambles.

Ps you can tell how much the DuckTales writers love Darkwing and wanted to make it not just a love letter but hoped to convince Disney to make a spin off. Yes there is a reboot in the works but it’s with different writers and I’m not sure it will be in the world of DuckTales. I hope it does. Lol

The Amazing Webhead

As you can see, yes that was Negaduck which I liked how they took a realistic approach as in the old show he was just a evil version of Darkwing from a alternate world. As for the new guy playing DW for real, it’s Drake Mallard who is Darkwing’s name in the OG show so you see what the writers did there 😏😋

The Amazing Webhead

This was a terrific episode, and definitely not the last of Darkwing Duck.

Negaduck was actually from a negative universe in the old show. With this version they had Jim Cummings do the voice of Jim Starling who was the original voice actor so that was definitely a cool thing. Its also funny you mention Spiderman because I just saw they got Alfred Molina to reprise Doc Ock for the new Spiderman movie.
