René in WWI (early access)

Hello November, and hello to all the patrons for this month!

I wanted to attach some writing and explanation for this one, I might edit it in later, but my Malkavian René had been French a solider in WWI, which adds to his current trauma in the game.

Aaaaaand a bit self-serving. xD;There's a lot of competition for trench journals and Laurent is determined that everyone recognize that his is the best! Please praise his editorial section, he (un)lives for validation. fdafadsf l-like Adrien Brody, basically, since that's who I used as his faceclaim starting out. Black hair, a lovely aquiline nose, and very startling bright green eyes. I have a bunch of VtM characters (and Call of Cthulhu! You have excellent taste in ttrpgs), but if I ever get the opportunity to commission you, Laurent is probably the one I'd throw your way just because I LOVE the way you do eyes and I think you would really do his justice ; u ; (some of my previous commissions they've turned out more olive-y but I really want them more vivid and almost glowing, realism be damned!)

How kind! He’ll gladly borrow it. What does Laurent look like?

Zara H

Absolutely! René can have a copy of Laurent's trench journal Les Grognards to take his mind off things for a short while ;)

If he ever ran across a scrawny French guy in his early 20’s with the really REALLY blue eyes who looked like he didn’t want to be there, then he probably saw René! If you say yes then I accept the headcanon!

Zara H

He is indeed!

Was he French? They might have!

My Toreador Laurent was a soldier in World War I before he was embraced, too! I wonder if they ever served together haha 😊

I’m not used to drawing darker scenes, it was fun to you around with. Thank you so much!! 💜

The color in this fits the mood perfectly. I can see how the sketch helped with it. Love the stoney glare Renee has. ^.^

That totally makes sense and im still playing with different ideas. My vamp as he currently stands is a Toreador, and spends “human time” (lol) as a professor/archaeologist. His admiration focused mostly on ancient art and relics. So I feel like he’d need to be “alive” which also goes along well enough with Toreador. Still early in the character development phase but it’s a fun lore to delve deeper into for sure

I’m sure there’s mention of them somewhere in the books, I feel like they go over everything, but it could also depend on your character. Most of our coterie are officially ‘dead’ on paperwork, but René is still pretending to be alive because he lives off of his father sending him money. Eventually he’d have to ‘die’ on paper, but if your character is already dead on paper they wouldn’t be drafted.

Zara H

Ah. Interesting. I’ve been toying with some concepts for if I ever play and honestly, kinda forgot about the World Wars and how that would work being a vampire around the time

A couple of years before he was embraced. He was embraced on New Year’s Eve in 1919.

Zara H

Was this before or after he was embraced?
