2025-07-25 23:03:23 +0000 UTCThe thing that is so cringy to me, and it's probably only me, is the fact that I can tell most of the Japanese dialogue is spoken by Koreans and I can hear the dialect differences so clearly lol the intonation is ALL WRONG and it's rubbing me the wrong way even though at this point I speak more Korean than Japanese lol

If it is dubbed, then the dubbed voice actor they are using has to be Logan from Penthouse. He sounds just like Logan, and at any moment, I feel like he will break character and scream "Jun Na Tae"..LOL I can't get past it every time I hear him speak, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else notices this? It's a minute obsession at this point.

This context is essential to understand their dynamic. In that final scene, the act of a man grabbing a woman’s skirt during that era was highly inappropriate and carried significant implications. Moreover, for Dong-mae, a man of lowly origin, to touch the skirt of a noblewoman like Ae-sin was an unthinkable act. The situation became even more shocking as part of her underpants was revealed, which would have been seen as scandalous at the time. This would have caused Ae-sin to feel immense embarrassment and shock, emotions that are reflected through the heavy and somber background music. From Dong-mae’s perspective, however, he is in love with a woman he cannot dare to approach or express his feelings for. His emotions and longing are symbolized in that single moment of holding her skirt. Loving someone so far above his station, knowing he could never dream of a future with her, makes that fleeting moment deeply meaningful to him. Yet, because he cannot fully express his feelings or love her freely, it is also a deeply painful and sorrowful moment. Dong-mae’s inner turmoil is ultimately conveyed through the poignant background music at the end.And we must remember the words Dong-mae said to Ae-sin, calling her a pampered noblewoman. Those words haunted Ae-sin for the rest of her life. From Ae-sin’s perspective, Dong-mae’s words caused her ongoing pain, and now, with Dong-mae once again subjecting her to such humiliation, it brings her to tears. If you understand the conservative society of that time and the circumstances of the main characters, you will be able to appreciate this drama much more. As a Korean, I can say that every line of dialogue in this drama is deeply meaningful😢 Dong-mae loves Ae-sin to the best of his ability, in his own way. While watching this drama, it’s important to keep this in mind when looking at Dong-mae’s character
