This is actually why the emperor trusts Lakan relatively well, because he literally doesn't give a fuck about faction politics (and is thus ironically the unofficial leader of the Neutral Faction, which consists of other military mfs who don't give a shit about politics either), so he's relatively reliable to not have ulterior motives when ordered to do X (although this has the con that it's up to RNG whether or not he actually does do X within any reasonable timetable or focus, but it's better than the alternative in many cases I suppose, and he is likely to do it as long as the task is novel & interesting, because otherwise he loses interest & thus focus real fast)

Here are a few instances of punishment being mentioned! β¨A eunuch was punished (flogged) when the white face powder wasn't taken from Lady Lihua's place as ordered. β¨The lady-in-waiting that hid the powder was put on house arrest (basically). It was a light sentence since it obviously wasn't a purposeful attempt on Lady Lihua's life. β¨Lady Ah-Duo's head lady-in-waiting that tried to poison Lady Lishu was executed (along with her family). β¨Maomao mentioned in half jest & half pity that another eunuch will get flogged when she found the oils that Lady Shin (Lady Lihua's cousin and head lady-in-waiting) had hid in the shed. β¨While Lady Shin was banished from the rear palace (a light sentence), she came extremely close to be executed for trying to basically murder the emperor's unborn child. She got lucky because Lady Lihua still cared about her. A 15-year-old like Lady Lishu wouldn't know how to exercise her authority. There is a reason, the story will get there eventually.

Like he knew that Lisha was being mistreated but word of mouth is not enough cause of all the political bullshit behind the scenes. Now seeing the behavior in person with grabbing the heirloom from her and wearing something that was clearly stolen. It sucks that they act like they have al the power when their ain't shit! Me, Adorkable, and Director gonna throw hands on all of them.π€ Oh and what Lee was saying about the gifts. Remember in 1st season there was that party where Maomao realized that Concubine Lisha was being harassed for the first time. She and all the ladies and waiting were given gifts from the Precious Concubine, cause i can't spell her name right other than the G, that they wore proudly there to show who they belong to. Also Jinshi, the Wise Concubine aka the one that wears blue a lot, and the dude that helped Maomao go home and see her dad the first time all gave her hair pins which also symbolizes favor of some kind. That's how gifts work the right way!π§
