Nailed it, cecil is forcing a wedge in between the superhero community instead of bringing them together, for no reason, why not tell the superhero community about sinclair and darkwing? and to compensate for the loss of power and coordination he is resolving to use supervillains to rebuild the loss. Like you said,, he played his contingency plan too early, mark was attacking the reanimen, no reason to believe he was going to attack cecil, at all, cecil should have waited to see mark snap for himself and actually go after cecils life to use the sound attack.
to follow up on that there is no reason to believe mark is going to snap and try to conquer the earth, he even was willing to die refusing to tell the female viltrumite that he will do what she says, refusing to team up with his father.
He has been close to death several times defending the earth and his thanks was having a device to stop him installed in his head.
Now all the strongest and smartest heros are scheming and bidding for power, and theres a loose cannon in oliver that nobody can honestly control.

Yep. These episodes been great because it was kinda like "The Boys" everyone in the show is a different shade of gray right now. Even Viltrumites do not conquer planets and completely destroy them, they bring order. Sure it is not ideal and they are villains for forcing it on people but my point is EVEN THEY are not pure 100% evil.

I’m not against Cecil for having a contingency plan in place for mark. On the off chance he does become evil. However I think this must be stated that Mark has been getting his butt kicked throughout the duration of this show for Earth and the people he cares about. On a multiple occasions he’s almost died saving humans. While I do agree that Cecil should have a contingency plan in place for mark. Mark I think has more reason not to trust Cecil than Cecil has reason not to trust mark at this point. Cecil is making rational and logical decisions. However I do believe that he overplayed his hand with not only Mark but with the guardians themselves. To me trust is a two way street. There has to be a level of trust on both sides especially if you’re asking people to risk their lives to save people. Now in large part because of Cecil’s actions. That trust is gone. Now Cecil left without Mark and majority of his team and he’s going to need them to help fight off the Viltrumites
