Kouki crashing out was inevitable with the theme of this dungeon. Throughout this whole dungeon he has been hardly able to do anything redeeming or even prove he's a hero. I knew once we got to kouki because we hadn't seen it yet, that there was no way he would be able to overcome his true thoughts. Since the Nagumo returned he's absolutely not been able to accept the fact that he's not strong enough to do what needs to be done in order to actually be worthy of the title of hero. He's a "hero" in name only, all because of his envy since Nagumo's return. He wasn't able to save anyone, he wasn't able to fight against his own sword trainer, he fumbles the bag every time he is presented with an opportunity to be deemed worthy of the title hero. Nagumo even told him so a many episodes ago that Kouki always craps the bed when it matters most and this episode reinforces that. He talked big about trying to achieve more strength through the labyrinths only to again fall flat.
His dark self wasn't wrong though, he refused to accept that shizuku had already been looking at Nagumo. I found it even more interesting that Kouki was so convinced his dark self wouldn't harm shizuku and yet he knocked her out which completely contradicted what he said to Nagumo about not hurting her.. he still hurt her. Kouki just constantly lets his emotions best him to the point he is fully blinded by them and refuses to accept any logic or correction even if it is the truth. This episode was interesting and hilarious just watching Kouki crash out.

It's so funny how Kouki is becoming more interesting and likeable because of how much he's crashing out, but isn't strong enough to be a threat XD

You know its wild that the thing that pushed Kouki over the edge was seeing Hajime carrying Yaegashi and Yaegashi acting feminine towards Hajime. Kouki never got the confirmation that she liked him before crashing out. Kouki even had two opportunities to make Yaegashi fall in love with him
1. when he joined her dojo as kids, she thought he was going to her knight in shining amor but never amounted to much
2. when they initially got isekai'ed, she was looking for a hero and Kouki was only a hero in name.

Please the Spear Hero is way better than kouki
The Spear Hero actually becomes a better person as the story progressives
Kouki on the other hand becomes a more terrible person as the story Progressives

Kouki done went and became the Spear Hero this episode! He's gotta know what happened the last time Hajime had somebody by the neck. Realizing you are not as righteous as you think you are is already tough, but having to admit it is something that is even harder.
