Update: I am safe

I'm a bit on edge because we've received 2 false evacuation alarms (confirmed to be errors). I periodically lost power but things have stabilized since yesterday, biggest safety thing to deal with is the air quality and ashes, even in areas with clear-ish skies.

My parents and close family are also safe. I had to deliver stuff like power banks to some of my relatives who also lost power for much longer, usually those living more north to where I live (the fires coming largely from the north). My great aunt also lost an entire brick wall to her backyard because of windstorms a few days ago. Many of my IRL friends also closer north (Glendale, Chevy Chase) received notice following their evacuations that they could return home yesterday afternoon.

The thing scaring me most is a couple of longtime family friends who live in the Palisades where most of the worst fire damage took place. They themselves were safe and evacuated to their daughter's home down north (random funfact: she's a neurobiologist and lives across from a house owned by Kesha. idk what to do with that information lol), but there was a massive question mark on whether their home would be safe. According to their word yesterday, apparently their home IS safe -- the winds blew away from their direction; apparently they actually drove up to confirm visually that their house is fine, but they're not approved to return yet bc the fires still happening... and also, two of their friends (doctors) also lost their homes. I'm not sure how reliable I can take their word at this point, though from what I've seen, the wind has settled down in the area for now so there's that. best wishes to all of them, here's to recovering and settling down asap.

also I had to go to a dentist. half of everything here in LA is closed right now and the dentist is not one of them lol
