Right, so I think I said last year I was delaying the catgirl animation and I would eventually give a reason why... and then I sorta didn't. Oy vey...

So if you want the skinny, I wanted to say I think I got about 60% of drawing the assets done. My original plan with the animation was that it would feature a guy waiting for a bus or something before getting jumped by a shadowy cat spirit that would turn him into a catgirl. Then a completely different cat would rush by and steal his bag, and in trying to catch it, she'd trip like a klutz, and in her wallowing of the sadge, lamenting her bad luck, it starts raining.

The short answer for why I never finished this is that it was fun and exciting... until it wasn't. It turns out there was simply a lot more I felt like I needed to do in order to make this animation flow well -- I was disappointed by my inability to be extremely thorough with the transformation sequence (the plan was that she'd glow a bright flash of white and that'd poof her into her clothes), but to draw transition frames for transforming said clothes without shortcuts would take time. I wanted to have more angles with which to draw the cat spirit so it's not just one static view and to better contextualize space, but drawing the backgrounds and characters takes more time. Finally, turns out that drawing and animating cats is really, really hard... I tried my best to study on it and figure out how to make a cat walking not feel totally staggered and crap, but that takes time.
In the end there was just so much stuff I wanted to do so fast with this that despite me accomplishing a lot of stuff that I'm very happy with and want to eventually work on, there was simply not enough time and I overshot my deadline. I promised myself I'd be able to return to fixing everything up later, but the more I thought about it, the more I became concerned that the overall concept might not be that funny or cute or sexy, and I felt like reworking the concept might take too much. I'm really disappointed in myself for this, but such is life sometimes.
Right now as I'm finishing this last batch of Creator Crownie comics (already months overdue, ughhh), I do want to say that I do still have animations on my mind, but my plans for future animations for the time being after my schedule frees up is to keep things economical. Either I want to focus entirely on the transition aspect (gradual change in like body shape or clothing changes) or I do something narrative that's more of that economical "limited Visual novel" style like that Demon/Princess TG, haha. I want to do both, but I also have to be honest with myself as to what I can afford at this point. Here's to hoping I'll be able to get some more of this done asap.
