Results of the last model painting contest!

Hello everyone! To say that it was difficult for me to determine the winners would be an understatement. I didn’t even expect that there would be so many cool works and such a number of participants (28).

I looked at all the details, looked at the overall composition, tried to abstract from the lighting, the purity of execution and other nuances, and it lasted about 4 hours.

As a result, we collectively identified 3 winners:

First place - CollicuttBROS - $200

Second place - thesisterofclaudia - $100

Third place - President_Ev1l (Mimic) - $50

I would like to add comments regarding each work.

I'll start from second place - thesisterofclaudia - The character is painted perfectly, you can see a lot of handmade brush work, halftones, gradients, in general the character looks harmonious, but the stand seemed unfinished to me and if not for the stand, it would have been first place.

CollicuttBROS - Also a lot of brush work with fine details, the gradients are great, everything looks great. The only thing is that the face was slightly darkened relative to the entire model.

President_Ev1l (Mimic) - This model was very difficult to evaluate because he used cheats - and made great lighting, and it was necessary to abstract from this light when assessing the quality of painting (I think in the future, a mandatory rule will be to attach an additional photo in natural light) . The model also has a lot of gradients and highlights. An interesting choice of general colors, but it seemed to me that if you look at the overall composition, it looks a little poisonous and I would like more “calm” colors from the same color range (or so it seems due to the lighting). And the stand also seemed a little monochromatic to me.

I also decided to distribute an additional $100 among 5 more participants ($20 each):

1.Kaldi - Look what he did, he stuffed Lae Zel into Dice, when I saw this I immediately realized that this was the most creative work of all. The funny thing is that he didn’t do this work for the competition, but this is just a photo from another chat.

2. La Bottega di Alvina - the face was done superbly, but for the prize place, in my opinion, there was not enough work with the armor (gradients, highlights, replacements, etc.).

3. Freaktiful - if you look at the close-up photos, you can see a lot of work with small details, which I liked.

4. Outlvndldol - this work is also here because of the very painstaking work with details and it was also made in 75mm size, I think the artist deserves to be on this list.

5. MoonlitPanic - another cool work that didn’t make it into the top three. The face is done very cool. A creative addition to the stand with vegetation. But the armor seemed to be simply painted in one color and it seemed to me that there were not enough shades.

As for the rewards, I will write to everyone on discord soon, so see if you have a personal request for correspondence

All other participants can choose any model from older release (+bust, if available), and you must have a PayPal account to receive cash prizes

In conclusion, I wanted to say that I did not mention a few more good works, but if you list them all, you will get tired of reading this. And in the next competition we will need to add several important rules.
