Apothecary Diaries 1 x 10

This has taken 4 hours to load!! >.<

I'm gonna have to upload Squid Games tomorrow because I need to get some sleep. It's edited and ready to go but I can't sit here for another 4 hours unfortunately. Not sure why the upload speed has been so poor.

It's been uploading since 7pm and we are now nearly 11pm. Hopefully this is not a thing tomorrow but I'll be uploading Squid Game early tomorrow and FMAB in the evening so shouldn't impact anything!

Life has been busy so I'm really behind, but I'm catching up now and I forgot how much I enjoy your reactions. Yes to your rant about all art being political. Everything is political, even the hungry caterpillar, even a child's finger painting. By virtue of being created by a human being living a specific political context, we can draw some form of political meaning from it. It's even weirder for people to complain about you discussing politics when this show literally takes place in an imperial court? And it has a serving girl who grew up around a brothel as the main character. The author is intentionally exploring politics!

Lolita is actually one of my favourite books for the sole fact that it is the best depiction of an unreliable narrator in literature. Not to mention it is beautifully written despite being completely abhorrent and disturbing. It irks me when people see the book as promoting paedophilia or a 'love story' because it clearly means they've never actually read it! I am very curious about what show you are referring to haha!! But I also understand the concern about people misinterpreting why you enjoy said show because they have a warped perspective of it similar to how people look at me weird when I say Lolita is in my top 5 books haha!

for the politics in media "rant". You said something very important there, and it made me think of an anime series I adore - heck I love it, it is my nr2 of all time fav. But I cannot recommend it ever. I mean, I can, but very carefully. Basically it is beautifully animated, and it takes characters that is "tropes" or stereotypes and basically breaks it down to understand how they got to be that way. looking into past trauma, experiences, or even personal misunderstandings that have led to them becoming who they are now. Honestly it's a beautiful show that makes me reflect on what it is to be human in a way. But I cannot recommend it because the main character is fairly extreme, and have some really gross interests, and a view of women I cannot defend - and will not defend. Yes they also break down how he got to be how he is. And the author even shows the other characters judging the main protag for being a creep and a perv. But it's kinda like in the book "lolita". The author does not defend the male character and in their view it's a tragedy. yet people interpret it as a love story and feel sympathy for someone they should absolutely not have sympathy for. So despite it being a great anime for me, it have certain points I despise, and it can never be my number 1 fav. Now, I will stop writing essays in your comment section haha. I just enjoy your takes both of the show in question - and how it makes you think of other, but still related topics.

This was another wonderful reaction! Your discussion and theories are just so much fun to listen to because you eloquently explain your theories with the information that you currently have. I agree with your intro discussion about media being inherently political. It’s also very annoying when people say “it’s not that deep” when we try to analyze the story by connecting it to real life issues.
