I had a steam version of VAM, and now I joined the patreon. I have one computer with a fresh install and on that one, I do see the screen with the key. But on the one that was previously steam (and was updated to the lastest version offered through steam) I get a more generic opening screen without the key. How do I get to the key screen?

According to the VaM Updater.exe It has and only will install Version 1.20.77.13. Also, in the Vam_Updater folder there isn't a folder called Keys anywhere. I created the file using notepad containing only {"c91927" : "true"} and named it keys.json then put it in the Vam_Updater folder.

You can manually enter the key into a text file called key.json in the Keys/1.21/ folder. Create this file and edit in a text editor (Notepad, etc.) if it doesn't already exist. You will have to tell Windows to open it with the text editor of your choice since it won't recognize the json extension. Once you have it open in the editor, put this into the file: { "c91927" : "true" } Save the file and then restart VaM. It should now be unlocked to creator. I'm really not sure why it won't work for you to enter in the application itself. If the above doesn't work, something else is wrong with your install (try the Repair All option in VaM_Updater.exe).

Make sure you have installed VaM into a directory that is not admin protected (like Program Files). Make sure you type out the key exactly as shown here. Copy/paste can sometimes pick up extra characters so I suggest just visual copy to be sure. If that doesn't work, run VaM_Updater.exe, click Options, and click Sync/Repair Core. Once complete, try running VaM again and entering the key again.

you're key needs to match the version of VAM you have installed, so you'll most likely have to downgrade the version of the game.

Your 1.20 key is good permanently. You just have to keep using 1.20 and not update to 1.21. It has always been the case on this project that every major version required a new key. We just have not released a 1.X release in quite a long time. You can revert your release back to 1.20 by running VaM_Updater.exe, click Options, select 1.20.77.13 from Desired Version, and click Sync Core. Now you are back on 1.20 and your existing 1.20 key (that is still installed) will continue to work. Also records show the 1st time you pledged you never paid anything because you cancelled immediately and my project was set up as pay-at-first-of-month. So you have been using VaM for free this entire time. However, you all need to make certain that there is a disclaimer next time. I was told from the original Key that it'd be good permanately.

This morph is used internally. The problem is not with the morph but a bug that was in 1.20 and earlier in that if you had a community version of that morph, the internal system would use that instead of the internal morph and would result in every save file having that morph active. That was fixed in 1.21. If you save a scene now, you should no longer see this morph active unless you set the community version of that morph manually to something other than 0. For any previously saved looks or scenes, you can load them, zero the morph, and then re-save them.

The key worked for me. It pays to be a monthly recurring supporter! By the way, in your next release could you remove the OpenXXL morph from the male atom presets... unless it is there for a reason?

These morphs were duplicates of hidden built-in morphs used by various systems like glute and anatomy joints and were getting activated by those systems such that they were always stuck on and saved in every file. The fix makes it so the built-in systems now properly use the built-in morphs and not the custom copies."

This was fixed in the release. See the release notes for the mention of that. Note it requires scenes/presets to be resaved for it to go away so existing presets/scenes out there could still have these morphs set.

@Meshed VR, I am happy to keep funding updates for 1 and 2. Keep up the good work. Since 1 is getting new attention, is there anything that can be done about virus morphs? I have spent a great deal of time trying to get rid of the "RG" morph in my saves. Perhaps I have missed some things in the community. Would love to hear feedback from others as well. =)

For all those seeing invalid key please try this: -make sure your VaM version is 1.21. You can check this by running VaM itself and looking on the UI panel. You can also run VaM_Updater.exe and look on bottom bar to show which version of VaM it thinks you have. If not 1.21, update to 1.21 by running VaM_Updater.exe and clicking the Update button. - if it shows 1.21 and the key is still not working, try a repair. Run VaM_Updater.exe, click Options, make sure Desired Version drop down shows 1.21.1, and then click Sync / Repair All. Once complete, run VaM and re-enter the creator key shown here.

Back when 1.X was getting regular updates this was the standard and well accepted. You had to keep subscribing to keep getting major updates. Just like you won't get access to 2.X releases if you don't subscribe. We haven't made a big 1.X update in a long time. You can continue to use 1.20 forever with the 1.20 key you already have. You are not required to update to 1.21. You can sync back to 1.20 by running VaM_Updater.exe, click Options, choose 1.20.77.13, and click Sync Core. I can issue you a refund if you want to choose that option instead of updating to 1.21.

Whatever version you have at the time of pledging will work for ever. If you cancel you would lose access to future major versions of 1.X and future 2.X releases. It is very unlikely we will release another version of 1.X that would require a new key as we have to put as much focus on 2.X as possible.

Quick question MeshedVR, I had pledged for quite a number of months before eventually canceling back a few years ago and just ran with 1.19 waiting for 2.0 to arrive. I've repledged to update to 1.21. This was the standard when 1.X was being updated more frequently. Every major release (1.17, 1.18, 1.19, etc.) required a new key. Also - for you personally and many others, the 1st time you pledged you joined and immediately cancelled and were never charged. The project was set up as pay-at-first-of-month at the time, and a lot of people got VaM 1.X for free because of that. The project is now pay-up-front for a month worth of access. So this is your 1st time actually paying.
