VaM 1.20.77.9 Patch Released and a VaM2 Progress Update
Added 2021-02-26 23:54:05 +0000 UTC1.20.77.9 is a very minor update to fix a couple of bugs reported on the Hub and also to implement a small tweak request from a plugin creator. We expect there will be few or no more 1.X updates going forward as all work has shifted to 2.X. Please keep this in mind when reporting 1.X issues or requests on the Hub (https://hub.virtamate.com/forums/)
VaM2 Progress
VaM2 is the next-generation of VaM featuring an all new engine, next-gen rendering technology, and improved 3d models. The last couple of weeks were spent updating our previous VaM2 work to the latest version of Unity, working with new updates to the Daz3D to Unity import pipelines, checking out the latest HDRP updates, doing HDRP experiments, doing ray-tracing experiments, doing shader experiments, and doing some work on the core VaM2 systems. If you are not sure what all that means, here is the simple translation: We are working with new technology to make VaM2 look better and perform better than VaM, and the experiments so far are very promising. Here is just a tiny sample screenshot of one of the experiments. Final rendering quality will look at least as good as what is shown as this is just with the default HDRP subsurface shader.

VaM2 Main Goals:
- Improve visual rendering to next-gen AAA quality.
- Improve physics. Improve collision accuracy. Improve realism of skin, body, clothing, and hair physics.
- Improve performance. Scale better with high-core-count CPUs. Offer more performance options that allow VaM to run on lower-end hardware and still be enjoyable.
- Improve usability.
When? VaM2 is a huge undertaking. While we are off to a good start, it is clear the amount of work before us is immense. So we want to set the expectation now. VaM2 will take a long time to fully develop. It will take months to even release an early alpha, and it will be a year or more before VaM2 will rival VaM functionality. Our plan is to release early VaM2 alpha builds along the way so you can get an idea of how it will look and how it will work and what progress is being made. We are also planning to post updates with details of what is being worked on, progress, screenshots, and videos to keep you informed.

I'm getting random crashes with this version. The game will sometimes load scenes just fine, but a lot of times when i'm loading in scenes, models or environments, the game freezes up along with my entire PC, forcing me to reset my system. Any help in this matter would be appreciated

2021-05-20 02:02:17 +0000 UTCI'm mainly interested in top-tier performance on top-tier hardware. 120hz type stuff with as much realism and physics as possible on a 5950x and 3090. Hardware will catch up over time. Some things are worth upgrading for. With the ceiling unlocked on the cpu/performance side, then it should also scale down to people running Vive's with an older 1070.

2021-05-11 18:38:10 +0000 UTCImproved UI, better new-user experience with simpler and more intuitive interactions. We will keep the complexity for those that seek it, but it won't be required to see all of that for basic use of VaM, like loading and interacting with a scene and customizing a character.

2021-05-10 15:46:34 +0000 UTCWhat does "Improve usability" 2.X main goal mean more specifically? Is that related to use of and layout of UI elements and if so what kinds of problems you aiming to improve?

2021-05-10 08:29:37 +0000 UTC:) i think that MrK want to said : Please post anything just to show that your alive :) and ppl not loosing interest knowing by that post whats is currently processed. I know that tere is trello for your progress things but many do not know and may think that nothing happens.

2021-05-10 08:24:09 +0000 UTCYes - I'm working on providing an update. The update I want to provide only makes sense after I finish the specific thing I'm working on as it will better show off the progress and the major improvement over 1.X that this provides. Thank you.

2021-05-07 13:02:48 +0000 UTCThe last update was on 2/27/2021, and there has been no progress in over two months since then. Even if there is no specific update, shouldn't we report that work is in progress?

2021-05-07 04:31:08 +0000 UTCI know I am new here, but i am willing to help test version 2 :) i would even pay for that experience, I do love this program, and not just for the sexy stuff, this is an amazing tool and I am so excited for version 2 so I can stop downgrading my characters to gen2. even if you just want a different set of hardware to test current builds on I am more then willing.

2021-05-04 03:26:18 +0000 UTCI'm only offering Patreon at this time, but I'll consider other outlets if needed. So far Patreon has treated me and this project with respect and support, but I understand that is not the case for everyone running adult-oriented projects.

2021-04-28 05:09:22 +0000 UTCOpen Package Manager (there is button on toolbar for this). Then click the package that contained the plugin that you disallowed. Then click the User Prefs tab on the right side of package manager. In there will be option that says "Always Disable Plugins...". Uncheck that and it should fix the issue. If you don't know what package the plugin was in, you can reset all package preferences by deleting the folder named AddedPackagesUserPrefs in your VaM install directory. That will delete all prefs for every package you might have set, including always enable/disable plugins.

2021-04-11 14:36:11 +0000 UTCIf I accidentally selected "Never Allow" on plug-ins from a certain creator, how do I go back and amend that to "Always Allow" ? Is there list held somewhere of which plug-ins have authority / have been blacklisted? I currently seem to have wrecked my >300gb VaM collection with one misplaced button click, now no animations work, hair isn't attached to peoples heads... :(

2021-04-11 06:26:21 +0000 UTCLeap Motion in desktop mode is not supported, but a talented addon creator (Acid Bubbles) is working on this for his backers. I don't know if they plan on releasing a free version or not.

2021-04-02 22:11:10 +0000 UTCAn important goal for 2.X is improved usability as mentioned in the post above. Part of that is easier controls and improved user interface.
Meshed VR
2021-04-01 16:36:02 +0000 UTCWhen you are already working on a new paid game. You could do easier controls there. Like they have in Sims 4.Simplifying confusing controls would attract paying players.

2021-03-28 12:36:34 +0000 UTCYeah I checked out the demo in UE already. It is pretty impressive. The problem is those models are built in an external system and imported into UE as it and can't easily be modified. This would be very limiting for an adult-based game. The current models don't have full nude skins or genitals. Unity HDRP raised the bar on rendering quality. For those looking for high quality out-of-the-box experiences, UE is great. But IMO, Unity is much easier to customize and take it beyond what the base UE engine provides. In addition, Unity's new jobs system is pretty amazing. It is going to greatly increase performance in 2.X and would be beyond what UE is capable of since they don't have a similar capability. I have been working with the jobs system over the last couple of weeks on the character skinning system.

2021-03-20 04:29:11 +0000 UTCMeshed, I would happily punch the clock on a $16 or even $20 tier that had nightly or weekly 2.0 builds - with the caveat that 2.0 will be a busted mess liable to crash until June of 2022, and if you bitch about it, Meshed LLC will boot you right out of that tier. =)

2021-03-08 17:47:56 +0000 UTCYes 2.X is going to support custom assets and should support custom shaders. There will be a different import system for 2.X. You will be able to make your own custom atoms. We will provide Unity tools to create the 2.X assets for you so you can add control points, material controls, and other control options to your Unity assets that VaM will recognize.

2021-03-07 14:38:01 +0000 UTCYes, I'm really looking forward to my new CPU being utilized fully with all cores. HDRP looks so promising..! BTW meshed will 2.0 alpha support custom asset imports? I can't wait to try my new unity scenes I've made with the new HDRP unity assets and shaders I've purchased!

2021-03-04 00:16:25 +0000 UTCSeriously your wrong. Current v1.X is good, but completely lack on scalabiltiy and is outdated with newest technologies which allow app to be faster and way preatier. now Adding 3 nice looking characters can kill uber PC while in new gammes you can have thousands NPC at once. So no. Its time to create completely new engine. Current one i think is enough for getting very nice scenes. Few UI updates here and then to make scene /plugins/ etc search easier will be enough.
rabbit1qaz
2021-03-03 12:05:47 +0000 UTCHonestly, v2.0 sounds too risky for me. I suggest you learn what Microsoft has learned, even Amazon. Just improve / replace the parts of v1 that are critical, donβt waste resources in the rest. No one will wait. Some is going to steal your market (some already) before you finish. Amazon has the latest tech where it matters, other parts are still perl. Windows has fully abandoned major versions. My humble 2cts.

2021-03-03 02:53:53 +0000 UTCWe won't be making further improvements to 1.X, but we'll keep your suggestions in mind for 2.X. Hair can be very demanding on the GPU. There are some settings in the hair UI that allow dialing back the detail which should greatly improve your performance. And each light in the scene requires an additional pass during rendering. So many lights & high detail hair can kill any GPU out there. Physics loads down CPUs and this can prevent having many person atoms in a scene at once unless you turn off soft-body physics on them. But your case clearly sounds like hair is slowing your scene down. 2.X will be better with physics and overall rendering, but simulation hair with high density will still be similar performance.

2021-03-01 14:26:34 +0000 UTCI'm desperate for 2.0 but also please take as long as you need to make it as good as possible

2021-02-28 03:20:43 +0000 UTCMeshedVR may i sugestt you some game enahncer(best for 1.x version :D) : 1) could you please add Filter text field to place when you choose folders to find something. eg i want to load some plugin, i click Select existing and on left side there is Shortcut panel, there should be text filter 2) If there is text filter (future or existnig ones) in VR mode , virtual keyboard should be shown next to or under text filter not on bottom of screen, its so hard to write anything in VR 3) Please add to Choose Scene/ Browse All Scene window option sort: Sort by Create File Date. Now if we add some scene not from hub, many times i cant find it couse its not on top with New to Old or New package, couse its older scene, and sometimes autohrs do not add good names, and sometimes i put many of them. File createing date sort would make that so easy. Thats evertying, i work in UI app programing so easy of use enhancments are very well welcomed :D PS: Does 2.x version will handle more than 2 characters better ? now with rtx 3090 and 10900K i get 20FPS with 3 semi/long hair chars in Old Room .

2021-02-27 09:33:44 +0000 UTCIt will come later, but yes 2.X will have fluid physics. One reason 1.X didn't was due to skin collision accuracy which is being improved.

2021-02-27 04:00:14 +0000 UTCIf the expectation of ~one year holds true, this is incredible news. G8 support is a very anticipated feature. But the real core is the graphics and physics engine running smooth. Can't wait to see what the first alpha will look like. Just might make 1.2x look primitive :)
