Syra Wolf in "Do Not Disturb"

Hey y'all,

Here is the second and final clip I shot with Syra Wolf!

As mentioned in my previous posts, this one came out a lot shorter than I originally anticipated. In part, because I had to scrap a lot of the GoPro POV footage I was planning on using from inside the bedroom, since the footage was way too dark. However, despite its short length, I think this clip turned into a fun little romp. If anything, not having a lot of the GoPro footage turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as I had to approach the clip from an entirely different angle.

I'm also not entirely sure, but this might wind up being the last clip with Syra Wolf, as they may no longer be shooting anymore. If that turns out to be the case, I'm happy I was able to at least capture some of that energy while they were still around!

Now that this clip is finished, the next full length clip I will be working on is the one I shot with Cali Logan a few months ago. However, I will probably pump out a VR clip before getting started on that. I am hoping to take about a week or so to reorganize a lot of my sound fx/project files to give them a clean slate, since my workflow on this clip started to drive me insane (I have so many sound fx that I no longer use and I wound up wasting a ton of time having to sort through a bunch of bad sound fx I no longer utilize).

As always, the positives/negatives are after the clip description!

Syra Wolf in "Do Not Disturb"

Late at night, a group of tiny people scurry and scour around Syra Wolf’s kitchen looking for food. Little do they know, Syra Wolf is not asleep, but rather, attempting to unwind with a book and some tea. However, Syra is rudely interrupted by notification after notification, an automated alarm that triggers whenever there is movement on the floor nearby one of the traps Syra has set to catch those troublesome tiny people.

Annoyed but undeterred, Syra does their best to relax until they hear a crash in the other room. Getting up to inspect the noise, Syra quickly discovers there are tiny people all over the kitchen. Without hesitation or a second thought, Syra rids the kitchen of the unwanted guests.

Upon further inspection, Syra notices one of the traps is full. Returning to the bed with their prize in hand, Syra introduces the tiny people to a new trap, the inside of a sock. Finally, Syra can read in peace.

Self-Reflection...

The positives:

- I really like the energy and pacing of this clip, especially once Syra discovers the people. However, I think the slow-paced build-up in the beginning and at the end make for a cool little effect when juxtaposed against the chaos of the kitchen.

- I think Syra did a great job with this one. In fact, there was originally a few lines of dialogue, but I wound up cutting them out because I thought Syra's facial expressions told the story in a much more compelling way. I love how Syra moves from this sense of annoyance and disgust into more of a playful tease, without losing any of the emotional intensity. Sometimes I worry about translating such stark transitions in mood, but I thought it felt really believable and genuine.

- I'm fairly happy with my resiliency on this one, because my original edit made me think this clip was not going to work out at all, but I'm happy I was able to piece something together that I wound up enjoying :)

The negatives:

- I'm really going to have to invest in some sort of high powered light to use for the GoPro shots (until they invent a high powered slo-mo action cam that has both decent quality and that wide sense of scale). Since upgrading my camera, it's been a little soul-crushing to have such stark differences in quality between perspectives. In fact, I am actually bringing these projects down to the GoPro's  level, as the regular camera can actually be shot at 6k.

- I wish I was able to give this clip more movement, both for the figurines and for Syra. However, that kitchen was really small and for the sake of time, I just decided to keep everything in front of me so I didn't have to keep repositioning the lights.

- I also wish I found a way to make this clip a little bit longer!
