VR360 "Last Rollercoaster" with Lauren Ashlyn

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your patience on this one. Having your support really allows me to go back and make some changes that I otherwise might let slip for the sake of brevity. During these last few days, I've been going back and forth, re-editing/re-mixing/re-watching and re-exporting this clip quite a bit haha. I think it came out pretty cool! I already talked about the video extensively before in the last post, so I'll spare you in this one.

Also, in regards to being sick, the good news is that none of my symptoms have gotten significantly worse, which is relieving. Hoping that everyone is managing themselves okay.

Here is the description:

Note: This is a VR360 Clip

Who knows what you did to make Lauren Ashlyn so upset, or if she just behaves so cruelly on her own. This clip picks up with you trapped inside of a box somewhere on one of Lauren's dresser. She immediately thrusts you into a cage that she begins to shake and swing around (Warning: this may be a little disorienting for a few seconds). Putting you down on the floor, she begins to kick the cage around until bringing you up to her level, where she threatens you with a lighter, a scissor, and even blows smoke on you. Saying nothing at all, and seemingly without a torturous glee, Lauren threatens to drop you into the toilet, only to catch you and dump you into her sink, over and over again. In some ways, this clip is without context so that the viewer may imagine their own context for how they got into this situation and why she seems so cold. In the end, Lauren brings you into her room where she pins you down and steps on you. This clip is in 60fps slow motion. There is no dialogue. At some moments there is a little bit of splitting, but for the most part, not in the immediate vicinity of where one will be looking.

I'm glad you think it's cool. I should probably put a poll up to see how people feel about slow motion voices in general. Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about it. In spurts it seems okay, but it's a long-ish video, and I worry that it might feel cartoonish in the in-between. Like, I wonder if it might be better if I lower the pitch and lean into how it sounds? I think if it were more like 120 fps I might like it more, because it would feel more pronounced, whereas right now it seems only kinda slow if that makes sense? Ideally, I wish I could release two videos, one slow and one non, but that would be like editing 2 separate videos unfortunately (since the sound fx won't line up correctly). It might also feel different with full sound underneath. I'm gonna mess with it a bunch regardless!

Cool! Honestly I don't think it's so bad. A little echoey, but I don't mind the slurring that you mentioned. I like it! If you ask me, I'd like to try one VR vid with it to see what it's like and let her fully express herself how she wants. That said, I do think sometimes saying little can be effective at showing how little the tiny guy(s) mean to her, but on the other hand I like that it opens you up artistically!

Stew Drickson

Hey! Yeah, I actually found a decent way to retain the pitch...however, since it's only 60fps it mostly makes her sound like she is slurring her speech, or a little bit slow. I'll render it out and send tho

godqueen

Hey there - any update on this?

Stew Drickson

No worries at all! I appreciate the feedback and the connections with folks. That's sorta what this Patreon is all about, you know? I'm thankful to get to know people who connect with similar aspects of the fetish, because after all, there are a ton of producers who make completely different types of content. So it's cool to have anyone relate to what I'm trying to continue to work towards :) So yeah, never worry about leaving too many comments or messages or anything haha. It's all good!

Looking forward to it!

Thank you, and thanks for being so responsive! I totally agree with you re: the figures vs. SFX. at the end of the day the acting can offset any lack of realism, and your actresses are fantastic. Also, I really like being able to go back and forth like this - it's fun, and it should be fun. And if you ever want me to ease up I won't be offended because you're the artist here!

Stew Drickson

I can probably try to render out something in the coming days to show you what it's like. I've thought about doing a poll to see how people feel about slo-mo voices in different contexts. I personally can like it sometimes when it's not overdone, but it can also easily turn into like a parody of itself if you're not careful with how you're using it. What I've tried to do in the past, is experiment with slowing the voice down while raising the pitch, so that it sort of evens out, but that doesn't always work. Often it can wind up sounding like a digital robot or something haha. I can definitely show you tho!

Hey, thank you so much for the thoughtful write-up/feedback! I am glad that the power dynamics tend to translate, because I think first and foremost, that is what I care about coming across the most. I'm aware that my clips lack the nice aesthetic that can come with sfx people, but I also think that unless you're using those sfx people in a way that feels realistic to how they would behave/be positioned in the shot, it's just as distracting as plastic prop people. I really only try to use them in order to establish a frame of reference for the mind, so that you can *see it* and hopefully then, *feel it* when it's mixed with the POV/3rd person wide shots. But I try to bring that same sorta spirit to the VR clips, since I am also a consumer, and I know what I like vs. what takes me out of the fantasy. And you're right, if I find myself completely alienated from the scenario, it doesn't really hit me in the same way (which is one of the reasons why I try to leave things ambiguous). However, with VR especially, I'm still very much experimenting and learning about what sorta works and what doesn't (even just in terms of picture quality). That's why I'm super thankful for the support, because now when I look back at some of the older clips I've done, I'm like, oh man, this could have been 10x better if I had known what I know now. But that's sorta part of the process I guess. You gotta just put stuff out there, and see what the response is, and then learn from your mistakes. In some ways, I think you may be right that things can often be better with one narrative in a VR video, as opposed to multiple deaths (although I suppose sometimes it can be fun, if it's not overdone). It's a shame that Lauren and I have to re-do a lot of the ones that only had one narrative/person from this shoot haha. But yeah, I really appreciate the feedback, so thank you!

I have to ask though - exactly how bad do their voices sound in slow-mo VR? Jennifer in particular has done a great job with dialogue in the past, and considering both she and Lauren actually participate in the creative process, I think it's a shame that we don't get to hear them speak. Can we get a sample of what it might sound like if they were to do dialogue in VR? Thank you!

Stew Drickson

Totally agree - this was one of the most realistic VR vids I've seen. One of the things missing from so many GTS videos (including VR) is that there's no genuine relationship formed between the actress and the viewer. All of the overplayed scenarios are so contrived - how did these tinies get in here, why did you shrink yourself and come in my house, i need protein and you happen to look like a snack, i'm going to squish, eat, sit on, whatever you for no reason at all. Here, let me get into a bikini just for the occasion. We've seen them. What your work brings to the table is that there is a relationship between the actresses and the viewer - EVEN IF there's no dialogue and the actress barely even notices the viewer until near the end of the clip. As you've stated, the point is that the viewer doesn't really know what's going on, and it's a bit for our imaginations to fill in. The GTS doesn't pay you any mind whatsoever because you don't matter to her. There doesn't have to be sex when there's a power differential. In this clip, it was a little different because as you said, Lauren had an idea in mind of the relationship she wanted to have with the viewer. And I think she did that effectively. In this one, in contrast to some of your other videos, there were no "deaths" until the very end, but there was teasing throughout - hints about what she COULD do, and you can't do anything to stop her. I liked that. Manhunt and Take Out were excellent and showcased what you're capable of in VR, and I truly think they might be some of the most enjoyable VR experiences I've ever had - even though you say the picture quality isn't as good in slo mo, I think they're so immersive and you've achieved such incredible scale with how they look in VR, that I really think you have some of the best POV and VR content out there. But I do have one (little) comment, and it might just be my own personal preference, not sure what you and others think - I found it took me out of my imagination to have myself die/be eaten so many times over. I kind of wish they took their time a little more in between deaths, so that I got to feel like there were more close calls, got to appreciate their size and power more before the end. In Manhunt in particular, when Lauren was walking over the camera, she squished it each time - but I felt myself wanting her to miss so that I could continue to experience her size more and really be immersed. Rollercoaster accomplished that though, and it was longer which I really liked! EXCELLENT JOB, and thank you for putting out all this great content! Can't wait for the next one! (I'm partial to VR clips, but all of your stuff has been so creative and you put so much thought into it that I'm looking forward to whatever tickles your fancy.) I just joined as a patron very recently because I saw a couple of your clips and thought they were so good that I wanted to be a regular supporter. thank you for taking this step and making outstanding content for us all to enjoy!!!

Stew Drickson

Yay! Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked it! And I think naturally pensive is a good way to describe it haha.

godqueen

Definitely one of your best VR productions so far I have to say, loved the sound editing with the slow motion effects, man have I missed your sound editing and of course Lauren Ashley doing what she does best having her natural pensive stare going on haha love it! Plus ending on a good note right at the end, right up my alley. Also with the direction for this one it really felt natural, good advice to use real life experiences to help convey a tone which worked out excellent, good stuff chief. Anyway thanks for this one and keep up the great work.
